Please explain how to create a rainbow patina on a fine silver ring

today I'm going to show you how I make a rainbow patina like you see on the ring on the left here is the white unburn a string that has just come out of my kiln and I've burnished this one with a brass brush with my dremel and this is the already rainbow patina that I've just finished and I'm going to do it again so you can see what I've done I use a bowl of warm water and there's some pieces in there already you can see that they're getting dark so I use warm water and then I use my patina gel I put just a few drops in I'll put a few more in for you so you see I just use I just use a few and then I have my bowl of cool water with baking soda in it so I'm going to take my ring that's just a shiny silver already burnished ring and I'm just going to dip it into my liver of sulfur and warm water for just a few minutes and you can see it already starting to turn a gold yellowy color and the purpose of this you just go ahead and swish it around until you get the color that you want so if you want a rainbow if you want some blues and greens you just wait a little bit longer sometimes it'll turn dark red you just have to experiment and see see what you like it just depends on the temperature of your water or you can also add in some soap or some vinegar into your water to get different colors I'm going to go maybe for some reds this time I think it's going to turn a little red and purple on me so now we keep going until you get the color that you want and then as soon as you get the color you want you dip it into your cool water with your baking soda and as soon as you do this it will stay the color that you have so and if you leave it outside of the baking soda water it will it will continue to get darker so you want to go ahead and put it in there when you get the color that you want so you can leave it in the water for a little bit longer the longer you leave it in the more chance it has of keeping its color and then when you're ready it should look similar to this ring this one is more blues and greens I haven't polished that one up yet so it's still in the process go ahead and take this out of the baking soda water dry it off a bit that's a pretty one that's a really pretty rainbow pretty patina at that time so you can see I've got greens and blues and some dark Reds so you can keep going make it darker if you want or go ahead and leave it there and polish it up and you'll have a beautiful fine silver ring
