welcome to my joyous kitchen I'm joy McCarthy holistic nutritionist and today I'm going to show you how to make the most amazing vanilla almond milk it's a great alternative for those who have dairy sensitivities almonds are naturally gluten-free it's a good source of magnesium and calcium and vitamin E and once you start making yourself you're gonna be totally hooked because then you know exactly what's going into your almond milk so the first step in this recipe is to drain the water from our almonds so I've soaked my almonds overnight that helps to really plump them up so I'm gonna drain the water away from the almonds I'm gonna give them a little rinse I'm gonna pour them into my blender and I'm going to add a couple of ingredients so first I'm gonna add some vanilla just to give it a little more flavor I'm going to add 2 medjool dates now make sure you take the pits out don't forget but jewel dates are awesome because they add this natural sweetness as well and then we have 4 cups of filtered water which we're going to add see how easy this is and you're just gonna blend until it's fully combined so you're just gonna blend until you can see that the almonds have become very very fine so you'll actually see the grit so now we're going to separate the almond grit from our actual almond milk so today I'm gonna use a fine mesh strainer but you could also use a nut bag which is super handy as well so we're just gonna pour it through the strainer so you see that the omen Britt is separating from the almond milk so once all the liquid has drained through the strainer you may want to use your hands to push through the almond grit just to get every itty-bitty amount of almond love you possibly can because it's so yummy so as you can see here this is my leftover almond grit which is full of fiber don't throw this out you want to use this so you can use this in baking in soups and stews you could even use this to exfoliate your skin just be careful with the drain in your bathtub because it can get stuck in there if you are going to use it to exfoliate now we're gonna take the amma mode that's in the bowl and pour it into our jug so it makes it nice and easy to pour rich and creamy fulfilling a port into this little mason jar here so I can have a sip right away in a polka dot straw of course let's give it a taste test oh so good so I'm going to enjoy this with my chocolate chip almond butter cookies we're on an almond theme as you can see here and I hope you try out my recipe for the vanilla almond milk and I hope you have a joyous day milk and cookies perfect
