so today I'm going to take this existing closet and I'm going to add some more shelving I'm just going to install some basic shelving on the sides of the closet give it more space and more starch so here we go so as you can see here I've already put the back piece the cleat on the wall and now I'm just putting the side pieces on for the shelf so I have three of these these are my side pieces for my shelving this is the cleat I'm just going to cut a 45 on the face edge just to make it look a little nicer put the piece that I cut the 45 on the outside just so that it gives me a nice clean look I just go flush with the back piece which I've already leveled up and I level that closet plus the package so now I've got my cleat on and I'll start attaching my shelving we're going to cut our shelving now this is 16 inch shelving okay so now I've got my shelving cut I'm just going to go ahead and install it this is 16 inch shelving which means it comes out about 15 and a half inches we're just going to nail along the edges where we put the cleat on the wall so I'm gonna go ahead and add a shelf across here I'm going to show you how to slice it together got my cleat on the wall the shelf in there I already cut it sit in there go ahead nail down to my cleat I'm going to switch to some shorter nails you just three-quarter inch so it doesn't go away through I'm going to just put a piece right on the bottom of that I'm just going to split the difference there I've got my shorter nails in I will support the weight of that here's the shopping that we've added and now we're ready to start prepping for paint and then it'll be done
