Please explain how to play saxophone

g'day nigel mcgill here so i finished my practice for the day and uh now it's time to pack away my saxophone and just a quick top tip for you you know this is something a lot of people forget about but you know i can't tell you how important it is to make sure that you keep the top of your saxophone really clean so i'm talking about the neck and the mouthpiece it's really really important so rather than just packing your saxophone away and pop up the case till next time take the take a quick second to whip your reed off ligature off grab now i use one of these but there's a lot of different things on the market just a mouthpiece and neck swab give your mouthpiece a bit of a wipe out and give the whole thing a good old swab if you do this all the time couple times through every time you finish playing it's going to keep it really clean and what that does two things really it keeps your mouthpiece a lot more hygienic but also it uh it allows your mouthpiece to play at its best perform in its best way because of course if you get all sorts of gunk and mushrooms and last week's breakfast and all sorts inside your mouthpiece it's not going to work that well is it so keep it clean is going to work the best the other thing i do is i wipe my reed and i actually these days i store my reed on the mouthpiece so i put the mouthpiece back together and that keeps the reed nice and flat and it's all ready for the next time that i play so that's the top tip for today have a look at the other lessons in sac school there's a lot of great information in there hope to see you in there soon good luck with sax practice
