Please explain how to cut layers & shape natural hair | nik scott

y'all remember this well the next day I decided that I wanted to play beautician and cut layers and shape up my own hair the first thing I did was use a hair tie to get my new bangs alpha way because clearly I didn't want to cut them any further outside of wig and weave tutorials I couldn't find anything on YouTube that showed exactly how to cut layers into natural hair that rolls out of your scalp so I'm using a technique that I saw off of I believe the youtubers name is peak meal and how she cut layers into one of her curly wigs so that top crown section I just finger parted it from ear to ear and then use a ponytail holder and pulled it down to the end of my hair and I'm just cutting off the very end I didn't cut off enough to begin with because I really wanted some pretty deep layers so I went back and cut a little bit more off that first section now I am moving on down to the next layer and just using my fingers to finger part across then I'm going to use a ponytail holder to hold the ends and then what I'm going to do differently is I'm going to bring that section forward to match up with the first section of layers that I cut now I'm just cutting straight across so that both of those sections are the same length onward to the back now the back I did a little bit differently I went ahead and finger parted straight across like I did with the other two sections but instead of making one ponytail I'm actually going to split it into two ponytails and just cut from there so before I put the ponytail holder in each of the sections I did gently finger detangle the ends because I wanted an even cut even though I wear my hair curly I still wanted it to be as even as possible this was the only part about this process that I found a little tricky because obviously I do not have eyes and back of my head but I did my best to line up both sides of the back section evenly so that I can have one even layer that's the same length in the back of my head so after I removed all of the ponytail holders I was really anxious to see what I come up with and to see if I got the shape that I've been looking for and to my surprise I'm actually pretty happy with what I have right here but I am gonna go on a little further and just give myself more of a shape by cutting just in a slanted direction on each side of my head I'm basically just cutting pieces that are like outcasts and just standing straight out in a particular section that don't blend in very well and because I'm so scissor happy and cutting your hair is actually kind of fun I have to force myself to stop otherwise I'd have been cutting my hair until I was bald but the good thing about cutting layers is that you really don't take off any length and as you can see I didn't cut off very much of my hair and I am loving my new shape you can really see it after I washed my hair but here's a before and after as you can see before my hair just kind of hung down and now there's kind of a slanted B shape to it that I absolutely love and if you do do this by yourself with your own scissors in your own bathroom like I did my advice is to start off by cutting a little bit because you can always go back and cut off more but once you cut off too much it's just on and you just have to wait for it to grow back and that is it Shaw I hope you all found this tutorial helpful be sure to watch my last here tutorials link right here subscribe if you are not already subscribed and join me on Instagram Facebook and Twitter until next time y'all peace
