hey mom you're gonna go repot that ganura are antiqua oh the purple passion velvet plant yeah i sure need to repot it or otherwise it's gonna die okay let's go before you repot the plant you want to pick off any dead leaves you also need to water it otherwise the roots will suffer when you put them in new dirt so we'll water the plant let it soak for just a few minutes just tell it's nice and moist and all the water drains out while we're waiting for the water to drain out of the plant and letting it soak a little bit i'm going to cover up the hole in the bottom of the pot i'm just going to use paper you could use rocks or whatever you want to um if it's a plant that requires a lot of drainage use rocks but paper is usually okay just to keep the dirt in i'll just fold that up a little bit and tuck it in the bottom of the pot now i'm going to put the dirt in the pot so i'm going to get it started saving enough room for the plant of course some nice rich dirt in the pot bottom of now i'm going to take the plant and dump it out of its original pot i think the roots in this pot are pretty weak ah they're not too too terrible but it sure wasn't happy put it down in the pot gently and tuck all the dirt around it since the roots weren't too close together i didn't even need to really break them up just give it some nice fresh dirt you don't want to leave too many air bubbles down below but you do want to give it a little room on top just for water you cover it right to the normal crown of the plant you don't want to go above or lower with the dirt plenty of dirt nice messy job so you want to either do it outside which is too cold today or just protect your your work surface a little bit if you're afraid of dirt so i've got that done now i'm gonna water the plant one more time and give it a good soak tuck them all nice and nice sometimes after you water it you may need to add a little bit more dirt and again it's good fresh water make sure it's not chlorinated if you have an aquarium or a rain barrel that makes for the best water for your house plants so bubbling a little bit make sure you have a drainage pot underneath we'll just let that soak till it drains and then we'll put it in a nice window not direct sunlight for a velvet plant mom what are you doing oh just getting a little extra fertilizer for the purple passion velvet plant thanks fred
