Please explain how to cut circles in glass | delphi glass

hi I'm Stan I'm an instructor at Delphi glass and pencil cutter you can either use a pencil or pistol grip cutter and you want to score from one side of glass all the way over to the other with a gradual curve and you're going to do that all the way around on your circle and then break that out each time you look you score and after you get this last piece drogar you end up with nibs on the glass and you would just have to grind those off with your grinder to make a nice circle and you can see that you've got your pen mark on there already so it makes really easy to grind and the gold and silver enamel pens work really good they stay on the glass the next circle that I'm going to show you is using a circle strip cutter a glass star circle strip cutter and there's two sets of numbers on here the one number that starts with one is for the strip cutter and the other numbers that start with for our pour a circle cutter so if you want a four inch circle you would unscrew this and then set it on to your number four notch there and then that would give you your four inch circle I'm going to cut about a three and a half inch circle so you tighten this down tight and then you want to move things away so you've got a good feel for the handle here to go around Center your cutter on the center of your glass press down firmly on here and I usually start it two o'clock and then just score all the way around and you can hear a little scratchy sound when it's scored all the way around and then the next thing that you're going to do is turn this over and put it on a padded surface and then you're going to press up your run and the run is the crack in the glass and just make sure it cracks all the way around and this only works on a delphi catalog and then you're going to put this over again and cut the rest of this off with like a watch band effect so it will look like a watch band when you get done you're just going to catch the edges take your running pliers and just break off sometimes they just fall off like that and then there's a nice perfect circle you don't have to grind it and it looks good the other way to cut a circle is to use a bandsaw with that again you would use your nail pens to mark your circle on your glass and then you just cut around the circle with your bandsaw when you're cutting new circles don't be intimidated and you can get more information on our website or give us a call
