and welcome to another vintage fans and more how-to installation video today we are working specifically with the 42 inch Irene 3 hlk from Atlas fan company a division of Matthews however these installation instructions are pretty Universal for any fan in the arena hugger series with a light kit whether it has three or five blades now to avoid confusion this fan was not a voting option on my last installation video I will still be installing the fan with the highest amount of votes from that video however I do plan on doing installation videos for all new products that I receive going forward so as I receive new products I will be slipping them in and as we go back and take a look at other products I already have on hand I will continue to have polls on those videos where you can vote for what I install next with that said the Irene series doesn't utilize a great many parts and is fairly simplistic to install so let's get started before anything else turn off power at the breaker or fuse open the box I've already cut mine open but if you're using a sharp instrument to open your box be sure not to slice too deeply as always I like to remove all the contents from the box laying them out to make sure everything is present and that nothing is damaged consult with the manual to make sure that all parts are present and then you have all the tools required locate the motor assembly start by removing any remaining packaging next remove the two screws locking the mounting bracket in place and loosen the two screws securing the keyhole slots two screws should remain partially threaded into the mounting bracket across from one another keep the two removed screws handy do not lose them remove the mounting bracket from the motor assembly then we're ready to move directly to the ceiling if you have an extra wire for separate light control Capet and tuck it up into the electrical box feed the wiring through the mounting bracket then secure the mounting bracket to the electrical box or building structure with appropriate screws ceiling fans should only be mounted to electrical boxes visibly marked as suitable for ceiling fan support if at all in doubt of your electrical infrastructure contact a qualified electrician secure the mounting bracket until it is sitting very snugly against the ceiling grab the motor and hang it from the hook on the mounting bracket you should use one of the solid holes not a key slot to ensure that it won't slip off proceed with making all wiring connections green from the mounting plate pairs with ground at the ceiling typically green or bare copper white from the motor pairs with neutral at the ceiling typically white black from the motor pairs with hot at the ceiling typically black or red please note that I am NOT using the additional safety cable for my installation if you wish to utilize it now would be the time to follow those instructions from the manual tuck the wiring and cable in so that they won't interfere with the mounting bracket then remove the motor from the hook lift and align the key slots with the screws be sure no wires are being pinched if you're having trouble getting the motor to go on rotate it 180 degrees and try again reinsert the two screws removed earlier into their respective locations then tighten all four screws securely locate the motor housing raise the housing on the motor aligning the supports inside the housing with the studs on the motor twist the housing clockwise until snug locate all three blades as well as the hardware bag prepare your screws by first putting on a locking washer then following with a flat washer this sequence is very important for proper blade mounting install the blades in the motor hub our markings indicating which holes should be used for five and three blade installations respectively install each blade and tighten securely locate the light mounting plate remove one screw from the mounting on the bottom of the fan and loosen the other two it does not matter which screw you choose to remove lift the light mounting plate to the motor and insert the two screws onto the key slots replace the third screw and tighten all three securely remove one screw from the mounting standoffs on the light kit plate and loosen the other two it does not matter which one you choose to remove locate the LED light assembly align the connectors and plug together push the connector and excess wire up into the recess above the light kit then align the screws and insert them into the key holes on the LED assembly reinsert the third screw then tighten all securely locate the glass shade assembly raise the shade aligning the studs on the shade with the slots and the light kit rotate clockwise until snug alternately if you opted not to install the light return to the step before installing the LED assembly the cap cannot be installed with the LED assembly in place locate the metal light cover raise the cover aligning the studs in the cap with the notches in the light tray rotate clockwise until snug if you're opting to use the handheld remote control locate it now the handheld and wall controls can be used in conjunction with one another also locate one of the included batteries remove the battery compartment door insert the battery as indicated then replace the compartment door you can use the optional cradle to mount the remote at any location if you're opting to use the in wall control locate it now again the handheld control and wall control can each be used together or alone at the wall box if you have a wire for separate light control Kabat and tuck it into the box connect one wire from the control to the incoming hot connect the other to the switch leg that goes up to the fan connect the green wire from the switch to the ground at the box typically green or bare copper TUC all the wiring into the box insert the switch being careful not to pinch any wires and secure with the two included screws locate the included battery remove the front access from the switch being careful to not bend or break it insert the battery as indicated then replace the front access panel pressing it securely back in place install the included wall plate or any decorative plate of your choosing restore power to the circuit your fan should be factory paired to the controls and ready to operate with the power back on and everything functional your Irene is ready to use if you enjoyed this video subscribe and make sure to hit the bell before you leave to turn on your notifications there will
