hey Courtney Griffin great house to do and today we're coming to you from Oh but actually we're on our son's playroom today we're going to show you how we painted this space-themed prog-rock and we'll show you how we picked the colors and our technique for pulling off this look to get started we use ashram williams color snap app to identify our paint colors once the apps open tap the explore color button then the magic photo button to upload your own photo after navigating to your photo accept the terms and conditions to allow the app to auto identify a color palette the color dots can be moved around to fine-tune color palate we purchase eight colors and the color to go samples the exact colors can be found below in the description Courtney's dad volunteered to paint the wall black for the background color then we used the square of cardboard for each color and applied the paint using a six inch foam roller we started with the darkest blue color and then applied all the colors that touch the darkest blue before the blue color dried this allows the overlapping colors to mix organically with the foam roller once the light blue color was established in the center we moved on to the darkest purple on the top once the entire wall was covered by the darkest blue the darkest purple and light blue it was time to start mixing in other blues and purple very ations and tie them by overlapping the colors on the edge to blend the colors together before painting the Stars the background drive for about 24 hours the stars are great for creating depth when applied at different brightnesses I started in the dark blue area again with the same dark blue paint but mixed in a few drops of white paint then painted a variety of dot sizes all over the dark blue area my general rule of thumb is that the start paint should always be brighter than the background and be the same hues so blue stars go on dark blue paint and purple stars go on the dark purple anywhere can have white stars but the light blue area in the center of the wall only gets light blue and white stars that are lighter than the background if you enjoyed seeing how this galaxy wall mural was painted be sure to click the like button below and leave us a comment subscribe to the gray house studio YouTube channels for more videos like this and as always visit gray house studio com
