Please explain how to rejet for filter pods and tune motorcycle cv carburetors jetting for café racer motorcycle

so this week's how-to video is about filter pods on constant velocity carburetors now these carbs were sent in by Jaguar he's a YouTube fan and he's got a Honda 450 so what he did is he took and put Club Med's on his Honda and these cheap em go filter pods and basically his bikes try to run like [ __ ] so I'm going to help him out there's everything on this in this kit to modify an otherwise stock constant velocity car to run badass with em go pods so let's get started so what I need to do is remove the screws that hold the top of the carburetor on and then the cap comes right off and under that there's a spring and then the main piston for the carburetor now I need to take out this needle so there's a set screw down in the end of this piston and I'm just going to loosen that up and drop the needle out just like that well next we need to modify the needle and the kit comes with some diamond paper and a little template so what you need to do is take the needle and repro file it using the diamond paper just spin and sand on it with the diamond paper and then when it fits into the template perfectly with the exact profile then it's ready to reinstall so on the bottom side of the piston there's these three lift port holes you take the reamer from the kit and you enlarge the center hole in the kit there's a needle spring you just slip the needle spring over the needle drop it back in the piston and then just tighten that set screw back up and this part is done so next I need to get to the air jets and they're under this little plate and there's just one screw that holds that in with the little cover off you can see these little air jets so you just take your tiny screwdriver and you remove all of those Jets the kit comes with a little yellow rubber plug and two little white cone rubber plugs and those go into the holes where the Jets used to be so I'm going to drop those in and secure them with some assembly glue after the little plugs are secured you still need to fill up this little chamber so the kit comes with this little block of carburetor putty and you just squish that up between your fingers and put it into that little chamber before you put the cover back on the kit comes with these spacers and what the instructions say is if you want to stage two kit you use one spacer a stage three kit you use two spacers so I'm going to use both spacers the brown ones go into the car body and the white spacers go directly onto that car piston the spacers are in and you just slide the piston back in and you can see how the spacers now raise the entire system then reinstall the cap of the carburetor so the next step is removing these screws that hold the carburetor bowl on so I can get it the fuel jets now I can remove the main jet and the primary fuel jet the kit comes with two jet drills the large ones for the main jet and the smaller one is for the primary jet I'm using my little metric vice grips to hold the Jets and that way it makes it much easier to drill and also make sure that you use the correct drill for the right jet so you take some of your teflon tape and just wrap that around the threads of the Jets because you don't want these things leaking reinstall the fuel jets then put the float Bowl back on and tighten the four screws now the kit comes with this drill bit and you poke a hole right through here and right through here and we need to do that because on this em go filter pod there's this giant rubber shoulder on the inside so when you put the filter on the carb the filter actually blocks off those ports and it really screws up the carburetor so when you put the portholes directly through here from the inside of the car body the air can go in here and in there even though the filter covers up those ports the last piece of this kit is this little metal lollipop and the lollipop goes into the MgO air filter and then you slip the air filter onto your carb and secure it solidly with some green zip ties and that's basically it I just need to do Jaguars other carburetor and get these boxed up and shipped back to them but I'd say this kit is like a solid 5 out of 5 for you know ease of installation and hopefully it performs well for them so I'm going to send him 5 out of 5 Ichiban moto stickers so I'll talk to you guys next week and don't forget to subscribe I'm going to do one more mod that wasn't in the kit this mesh screen on I don't think it will stop a whole lot in fact when you hold it up to the light you can like see right through this thing and I mean I can actually watch TV through it it's that bad I'm going to take a paper element and I'm going to secure it the outside of this MgO with some assembly tape and I think that'll just add an extra layer of protection to Jaguars motorcycle engine okay so there you go and I'm going to ship these back to jag have a good week I'll talk to you the next video and don't forget to subscribe
