The thyroid, or thyroid gland, is an endocrine gland in vertebrates. In humans it is in the neck and consists of two connected lobes. The thyroid gland secretes three hormones: the two thyroid hormonestriiodothyronine and thyroxine and a peptide hormone, calcitonin.
