Please explain how to install vinyl window shutter | diy fastener replacement & repair | easy $5 fix!

I'm Brendan here aka mr. Weber face thanks for watching and as always thanks for subscribing to the channel in this video I am going to fix my broken vinyl window shutter we get some fierce winds around here and this thing broke off from my vinyl siding I pretty much took out all the fasteners already with one left in there I'll show you how to remove that so what we're gonna do is I got some new fasteners for this we're gonna kind of drill into the holes that are pre-existing with the broken off fasteners in there I tried getting them out with the pliers but they're stuck in there pretty good so I'm just gonna drill through them to make some room for the new fasteners and go from there so let's do this the first thing I want to do is just clean up the area before drilling in the holes here I'm just using some simple green just clean it off real good I have it diluted now to remove the fasteners I just left the one in here to show you just use a pair of pliers and just kind of rip it out sometimes it'll break off but with a little maneuvering you can get it out pretty easy so what I'm gonna do next is I'm gonna drill into the pre-existing holes obviously if you're putting up a new shutter you need to do some measurements the holes are already here and the what I'm gonna do as a guide is I have the thickness of my shutter here and then I have the new fastener and what I'm gonna do is just kind of go in with my drill bit because it sticks out here a little bit so this from the back of the shutter to the end here that's exactly the depth that I need to go so I'm just gonna kind of keep that in mind as I drill in so I'm going to kind of drill into almost to the end of the drill bit here and the drill bit that I'm using is a 1/4 inch drill bit now again if there is a piece of the broken fastener you can try to remove it with pair of needlenose pliers but mine were wedged in there pretty good and I wasn't able to get any of them out so if you know if you can't do that you're gonna have to use the drill and make another opening in there and the fastener that's in there pieces that's in there it may stay in place but once you start drilling the fastener may just fall out so it's kind of within the vinyl siding somewhere so sometimes you have to drill it all the way but sometimes if you just start drilling it gets dislodged and that'll make the opening ready to go we do the top two yet all right all the holes are drilled out so let's fasten the vinyl shutter so I'm gonna start with the top two and I'm just using a regular hammer now if you're worried about the cosmetic appearance of the shutter I may want to use like a mallet or some rubber mallet or something but I need to repaint these anyway so it really doesn't matter for me so let's start assembling this to the vinyl siding so now let's finish the bottom two sets of holes they pretty much be pushing easy and then just line it up with the hole behind it so there you have it guys all finished real easy to do it takes less than 5 minutes seriously the fasteners you can get at Lowe's or any hardware store I got the six of those for about four bucks so a four dollar repair makes the window look a lot nicer thanks for watching I hope this helped you out take care you
