today I'm going to show you an old standard the gimlet I'm actually going to show you the vodka gimlet today I'm Elizabeth Stoddard wat from except calm let me just tell you quite a bit about the drink first of all the original gimlet is thought to be gin with roses lime juice now on the roses lime juice bottle if you look at it because I can't read it because I don't have my glasses on but it actually does say that the gimlet is made with either rum gin or vodka and roses lime juice in fact it's thought that roses may have originated the gimlet but we don't know for sure either way with going to use roses I'm going to make a vodka gimlet as i said but i'm also going to add a little fresh lime juice because i like that little touch of tart along with the sweetness you can adjust it as you like let me show you what I do my shaker has ice in it for the vodka I will be adding a [ __ ] and absent off and then normally if you were making the original you would add an ounce of the roses lime juice I'm only going to put in a half an ounce and then I'm going to write a half an ounce of the fresh lime juice which I have here and that's it it's that simple we shake and we poor now sometimes you'll see people will rim the glass with sugar again that's up to you as I already said I like my gimlet a little just a touch tart so for me the sugar rim doesn't work but it does look attractive if you like to do that and of course using a lovely etched glass always funny drink look more attractive I am going to add a little garnish to this make it a simple one you could put a little spiral of lime if you like I'm going to add just a thin wedge but I'm going to cut it a little differently and put it over the edge like so just gives it a slightly classier look don't you think so that's it our basic vodka gimlets and it's mine to try maybe I should move that I think I'm going to stick it up my nose hmm that actually is quite delightful my personal preference is with the gin rum is good too but I think most of you will really like this try it let me know come and see me again soon cheers everyone
