Please explain how to mod podge with paper napkins

today we're gonna do a project with Mod Podge we're gonna work with modge podge and we're gonna work with some wood and we're gonna work with dollar tree napkins let's see let me show you the board I did the other day I still have some sanding to do but this is all with Mod Podge and napkins and see how it has that transferred look those are Christmas trees now I did not do anything to the top of this board after I modge podge dit that's just the way they look these napkins are super cute they're little Santa Clauses upside down as you can see with snowflakes and Christmas presents they come in a pack that looked like this you know the little ones the thin tall thin ones but you can also work with regular napkins dinner napkins that you can I bought these at Marshall's so you know this time of year they have all their themes out and you can buy whatever you want so I took one of my boards that I've been working on and I've painted it a pretty yellow it is called amazed by choc by Waverly chocolate alright so I just simply painted the front of it and you can do any color you want on these words with this project that one I'm doing yellow that I'm doing today this one with the Christmas trees is stained underneath and of course you know I'm gonna put one of my stencils on here but I just wanted you to see what the board looks like kind of looks old and ratty and and like I said that looks like it's a transfer image onto the wood all right so I'm gonna put this one down and you know the deal with my boards I get my wood at Lowe's and I have them cut it this is pine one piece they cut into six pieces which are 19 by I forgot what I told you now 19 by 8 or something like that or 9 so that's just plain bored okay now first thing you want to do with your napkins you take a regular napkin and you open up your napkin okay all right you know how napkins usually have the plies there's so many plies usually they're three ply okay what you're gonna do is remove the first two plies there's one and then you're gonna remove the second ply which is a little trickier because it's hard to grab but some of them are really easy and then you're gonna gently peel it okay leaving yourself with only one ply of the napkin which is thin now I'm thinking you can use tissue paper matter of fact I know you can you can use tissue paper for this project I love doing any napkin projects I don't know if you guys remember this but in the summer I did a little terracotta pot with some picnic napkins lemonade eat it's like a barbecue and I used them for fourth of July but that was on a little terracotta pot with Mod Podge and napkins so I love working with napkins now I already did two of them because that's all I'll need for this project are two napkins and when you're peeling apart the ply just be careful that you do not rip the napkin you want to be as gentle as you can and at one point it gets real simple okay so now you're down to one ply it's super thin like tissue paper so I'm gonna use my modge podge I'm gonna put it in a bowl shake it up a little bit and I'm using the matte formula you can use any formula you want but for these boards because I want them to be rustic looking I'm gonna use the matte I have a cheapo little brush that I bought I buy a ton of these either from Dollar Tree or Walmart they're like I don't know a quarter or something alright so here's my board and we're gonna paint it in sections okay we'll start over here and you can use a generous amount of the modge podge and as I mentioned I already painted my boards I did this last night so I'd be prepared do any color you want or any stain you're only gonna see the color faintly by the time we're all finished are you so I'm gonna do about half the board in the modge podge okay and I'm going to take my napkin and I'm gonna line it up I'm gonna start at the bottom you're gonna have excess that goes over but that's okay we're gonna worry about that later you just want to line it up with the board use your finger then you can gently rub it out don't worry about if it tears or you get wrinkles in it it's okay cuz it's gonna add to the look and like I said we're gonna worry about the excess later they do have a roller now that when you're working with Mod Podge and paper you can roll it out but I have this thing with Mod Podge I actually like it on my fingers so I don't mind doing this you could even use a credit card very gently if you wanted okay you see what I'm doing now when this dries which I'll probably come back in the next day or two I'm waiting for my new stencil to get in and that's gonna be my plan for this board but do you see what that looks like now when it dries it's gonna be very sporadic and what it looks like just get out some of the bubbles like I said with your fingers or whatever and now we'll go on to the next Junction using a generous amount of Mod Podge on the board okay we're gonna take our napkin remember this is down to the first fly we only need two and then we're gonna do the same thing again so you just want to line it up to the bottom and then Pat it down like I said if you happen to rep some of your tissue you can just lightly go over it spread it out with your finger it's not a big deal you'll see what I mean once this is dry hopefully tomorrow I can come on and show you I think my stencil will be here I can paint over this you could already see this section drying it's gonna look really cool and this is nothing that needs to be super neat go over it and that's it and once it's dry I'll come and I'll trim this up and then lightly stand it the excess all right so that is it for that I will show you the board again because some of you just came in this one is done with Christmas napkins and that's exactly the way it dried random like that I have not done a thing to the top of the board nothing I haven't sanded it I haven't anything it just turns out this rustic almost as though it's it's printed on the board and this board was themed so that's it will let this one dry but you see how the yellow is gonna come through a little bit and then it'll probably dry random where you'll only see part of the Santa Claus or part of the presence and the snowflakes but these were cute napkins I bought these last year at the Dollar Tree so I'm sure they have a whole new assortment everyone is getting if you have a birthday coming up you're getting a homemade gift whatever it may be I have about ten signs I have Christmas stockings I have lazy susans because I've been sharing all these tutorials and you know what else am I gonna do with this stuff I love working with much Podge there's a lot of cool things I have never tried the image transfer stuff yet these could be hung on the wall I use these little sawtooth hangers you get at Home Depot or Lowe's and like I said I love doing modge podge and napkins or tissue paper you'll even be able to rip off the edges I usually just use a scissors and cut it and then sand it because I'll have to do the edges too but it'll sand right off and you'll have a nice clean edge don't worry about it looking all wrinkly and it that's good look it's supposed to have especially this project but if you want to smooth some of them out that's not a problem just be gentle but if you do tear you could just go back with your brush and lightly brush it and it'll go back into place no problem you
