what is going on wildlife fix team skunk season is coming skunks tend to come out in the spring summer and fall so very soon they're going to be everywhere so in today's video we're going to get go over how to get rid of skunk spray if you get sprayed by a skunk you got to know what to do because there's a lot of myths out there and skunk spray tends to get stuck on your skin in your property on your pets it's absolutely disgusting and it never seems to go away there are also lots of myths out there such as having to bathe in tomato juice so we will be debunking the myths and going over what you need to do if you get sprayed by a skunk so that way you know what to do in the future or if you've already been sprayed you know what to do right now so first off a lot of people think that if you bathe in tomato juice it'll get rid of skunk odor there's also several other myths out there and they're completely false a study has actually been done and tomato juice does not get rid of skunk odor it's not effective at all and so pay attention to what we say later in the video because what we're going to share with you actually works skunk spray is ridiculous and hard to get rid of it can stay on you for weeks if you don't take lots and lots of massive action to get rid of it so don't try to mate o juice don't try any of the myths don't listen to your friends in this video we're going to go over the actual strategy to getting rid of skunk spray we should also add that with all of these strategies you need to have a friend or a family member with you to kind of validate whether or not you're actually getting rid of skunk spray okay with something like tomato juice or tomato you know whatever the reason why people think it works is because if you get sprayed by a skunk and then you bathe them tomato juice the way it's going to affect your nose is you're actually not going to smell the skunk spray anymore so you are going to think oh the skunk spray is completely gone but it's not as soon as you walk out of the house people are going to be going oh that person smells horrible so don't have a friend that's always constantly by you and spelling you because they might get adjusted to the smell but instead do the strategy then how a friend or a family member that's been away from you come up to you smell you and make sure everything's okay because when this spray gets stuck on you it's easy to adjust and especially if you're doing other things like if it goes down a little bit but not all the way your nose might actually think oh the spray is gone but it's not so make sure to have someone with you so after you do any strategies and washing up this person can validate whether or not the skunk spray is actually gone or if you have to walk hop back into the bathtub so one concoction that has been proven to work with getting rid of skunk spray is one quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide 1/4 cup of baking soda and one teaspoon of liquid detergent mix it in a large open container and use it immediately this is going to really really really get rid of the skunk spray if it doesn't get rid of it try do it a second or even a third time but this should be highly effective in getting rid of skunk spray again that's one quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide 1/4 cup of baking soda and one teaspoon of liquid detergent this solution is safe for furniture people pets clothing everything should be ok with it however to not put it in a closed container in the reason for this is because the closed container can explode so again after you mix 1 quarts of 3% hydrogen peroxide 1/4 cup of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of liquid detergent don't cover it up use it immediately because if you cover it up it might explode so what should you do if the skunk smell gets stuck in your home a lot of people will watch how the skunk spray on themselves but the owner will get stuck in the air opening your windows can take a very long time and it can be exhausting to wait for it to get rid of so to get rid of a skunk spray inside of your home oil vinegar in a pan very soon the hosts home is going to smell like vinegar but open all of the windows have some fans going it's gonna smell like vinegar for a teeny while but then as soon as the vinegar goes away it's going to take the skunk spray with it so again if your home gets skunk spray stuck in it boil some vinegar and very soon your home is going to smell like vinegar then when the vinegar goes away it'll take the skunk spray with it for the building or deck if skunk spray if skunk spray gets stuck in for example wooden part or you know a certain area of your home like it just sprays you know on the wall or whatever one thing that you can do is you can mix one cup of liquid Beach bleach with a gallon of water now you might want to test a teeny bit of this first just to make sure there is no stains or leftover decolorization but if that is good then you can apply this to the areas that have been affected by the skunk spray and this will get rid of the skunk spray and then your property or you know the building or deck will no longer smell some other tips that we have for you is when you get skunked by skunk spray try avoid going in the home or any enclosed area because skunk spray tends to stay in the air for a very long period of time so try and do this outside if possible or minimize the time you spend indoors also get rid of skunk spray immediately this is not something you should wait an hour for and the reason for this is because the longer the skunk spray stays inside of you the more stuff it'll get and the harder it will be to get rid of it you're gonna have to do more and more washes just to get rid of the skunk spray of course the best that we have is be smart get rid of skunks in your property make sure you don't have any skunks we have other videos about how to get rid of skunks and keep them away from your property or what to do if you encounter ISKCON so the best solution is to avoid skunks at all it's better to not get sprayed than to try and get rid of spray so keep your pets away from it and just make sure there are no skunks coming onto your
