Please explain how to make an advent calendar for children

every year I make an advent calendar for my three grandsons this year and got these muffin tins at a dollar store so you get two for a dollar and so it only cost you two dollars for each event calendar I just cut these out of a sixteenth inch plywood and see it's just by wood and then just spray painted them okay so they're there they are those are the basis for my muffin tins but in the past I've used egg cartons for the containers for each day you can't fit very much stuff in there so I decided to try using muffin tins so then I'm gonna go ahead and mount those to my boards that I just made okay now I'm just going to take some electrical tape and just put it around the edge so I've got a nice border and then I'm gonna go ahead and attach the containers but in this case I have written the name on the back this will be the bottom and I just cover up the name just for privacy so and here's my other tube then I have ready to put the border on and then I'll show you how I attach the top and of course these were made out of wood some wood that I just had around you can use anything that you want that's sturdy it can use duct tape they have all the new colors and styles of duct tape I'm going to show you how to mount the muffin tins next alright I'm going to put a little bit of glue I'm gonna use a hot glue gun so I can't glue it following video taping so I'm going to go ahead and glue and now I'll show you what I've done now I have a little dab of hot glue on each of the muffin tins hopefully I can get it on before it dries I'm just gonna eyeball where it goes on there okay now you see where I have attached to it it's just on the edge and I should have a plenty of room for my next one all right now I have attached four muffin tins to the my piece of wood I put them on and they stuck so hard that I'm probably not gonna put the screws in I'm gonna see how they stay when I'm working with them but for now I decided I will not be putting the screws and now this turned out a little nicer their closer together all I did was set them where they're going to go upside down and I was able to eyeball it a little better so maybe you can try that with as you can see this one turned out really well all right now we have our muffin tins they're hot glue guns to this wood are the reason I started to making the advent calendars was because one year I had waited too long to buy one and I couldn't find one and so I ended up making one ever since I have not been able to get away with this buying one these are great for putting little toys money homemade candy they are ready for the tops now I'm going to go ahead and make the tops and then of course I won't attach them until I have them full use Braille draw to make the design for the cover right now I'm just gonna use this as a template I'm gonna press it in or mark it with a pencil and then I can draw that on my computer if you put a tin foil cover on here and then just cut out little pretty designs you can use stickers or whatever and then just mark the number or do sticker numbers for each day and that way they can just poke through the tin foil and they're into that day so that's probably an easier way to do it because I'm an artist I'm kind of a DUP about making a little design so we'll see if I can do it now I've made myself a template it's just primitive if you were going to use the tin foil like I suggested you can use colored tin foil and then you would lay this template on top of that you would know where to put your little decorated doors so in this case I'm going to scan them into my computer and I'm going to measure it I'm going to make my design alright so I've filled these compartments I like to have a homemade candy for my grandchildren so that I know what's in it their mother likes that too so this way I can put little separate pieces of candy and little toys pins so you can get little animals caps anything that you can find will fit in these little compartments whoopee cushions you have the bouncy balloons the Rubik's cubes if you can find the small enough cards you can actually fit a little toy car in there too and then on Christmas Day of course they'll get your other gifts that you're going to give them but so we're all ready to put the top on these and then we'll put the numbers and we'll be wrapping it around with some ribbon to make it look pretty okay I have my numbers that I designed in corral and print them out cut them all out I have three sets of 24 days I'm going to go ahead and put some wrapping paper on the top you can use whatever you want you can make a template with cardboard or a box to slip over the top however you want to do it and then I'm gonna wrap ribbon around the edge and I'll make some type of a tie that it can be hung on the wall so I'm gonna go ahead and glue one of these pieces are wrapping paper on top of one of my calendars all right I've hot glue gun a piece of foil wrapping paper for a drop of water my calendars and compartments separate so that open up tube doors at the same time so nodding is just gonna go ahead and wrap this and tape it as if it was a gift all right I'm taping the bottom of the wrapping paper and on the ends it's a little bit difficult to get it straight up so I've cut it here and then I can just fold it up and tape it and I can have it be consistent with the sides until I've left a little bit of the black masking tape in this case it's electrical tape just for appearance sake and this way next year I can just take the wrapping paper off and put new wrapping paper and I have my original compartments and I don't have to do it all over again all right now you can see how the corner is sharp otherwise it would have been like a gift you know what then turned in like old nose tongue din but this way it can be sharpen I can just go ahead and tuck that in and tape it alright I have my wrapping paper on my first advent calendar and now I'm but just put the bow around the edge so you can see it's all covered up on the edge I did put a little hot glue on there to make it stay and so now I'm ready to put my numbers on all right so I've gone ahead and glued these numbers that I created on CorelDraw it's and software that you can do graphics with I used this just a glue stick so it worked really well and I've got the hot glue on the edges of my ribbon I'm pretty well done with this one uh if like I said if you wanted to put a wire in the back to hang it you could do that I'm probably not going to do that because my grandboy like to play with them so it's just one more step that I would have to do so in this case I'm done with my first advent calendar for this year
