so we're going to build another kind of tinder and what we are going to do here is we're going to take toilet paper rolls and we're going to build two different kinds one with cotton balls and one with dryer lint what we're going to do is we're going to fill this with cotton balls and we're going to we're going to compress them in uh okay so we've got this very compressed i don't know i fit maybe 40 maybe 30 cotton balls in there so once that's all compressed in there tight what we're going to do is we're going to pour this full of wax and then we're going to pour this side full of wax and once it's all set inside with wax we're going to slice it and we'll have little fire starters about this wide that we'll be able to put down and start a fire with that we're also going to do it with some dryer lint take our cotton balls out so this cotton lint versus cotton balls it's pretty much the same thing i'm just trying to show a variety of things that you can do with it and you can hear my kids in the background playing so i haven't done this before it's something i heard about and i wanted to try out so now that i've done this i'm thinking what i actually want to do now that these are compressed i want to do about half like this and i want to pour it in here and then i'll fill it back in and then i'll pour it over the top of it it seems like it'll saturate better that way what i'm afraid of is when i cut these that the middle ones won't be very waxy so i think we'll do that with both of these we'll just pour the wax from the middle and then once that sets up a bit we'll shove some more in and we'll finish it off that way when we cut them we'll be able to see you know what let's let's do this here's the third one and we'll try we'll see how well it saturates when we cut them so we'll do this one as well and we're going to pour this one with it all the way full we're just going to see how it works out we'll find the best way to do it together okay we're ready to give these a pour here so we're just gonna try not to spill too much quite me making love okay so we'll let those sit where's my so on these ones that we filled halfway what i've got is i've got wax floating at the top this one it drained out the bottom so it definitely ran through all the way and it's looking like it's okay to fill it full before you pour so we're going to shove this in i'm going to pour over top of it and i i really think that this will turn out just fine we'll see when we cut them so we'll pour over this one again the wax is settling down a lot and i'm not seeing it come out the bottom you know the bottom so the bottom's still dry so we'll let these sit for a minute and then we'll turn them over and then we'll pour from the other side okay we've turned these over now you can see that's still dry on the bottom so we're going to pour from this side and it's still settling down quite a bit the cotton ball it's it's not settling quite as much which i don't know if that means it's easier to get through or if it's just not getting through we will see when we cut these open wow okay now we're just going to let these sit for a while and we'll cut them open and see how they work okay so these have been sitting for a while and so now we're going to cut them open and i was trying with a regular knife and it's pretty clear that you need a serrated knife it's a lot easier at least with a serrated knife and i cut that a little bit crooked but here's what we end up with that's now like a miniature candle with dryer lint in it and they should burn pretty good let's check out the cotton balls name so it didn't saturate the wax didn't penetrate all the way down here this is the one that we did full look at that the middle the wax didn't even get in the middle so the wax didn't penetrate the cotton balls very good at all see what we get here that one's not too bad this is just going to pop out that'll still this edge will still work both these pieces will still work they're just uh not quite as pretty as this one well let's try the other cotton one we'll start in the middle here well judging by how hard this is to cut i would say we got plenty of wax in it this is the one that we did halfway so doing it halfway the way that we poured the this one where we filled it halfway with cotton balls and then poured the wax in and then filled it the rest of the way and poured more wax in that's definitely the way to make this so there we go that is how you can build a burning wafer out of a toilet paper roll wax and cotton balls or dryer lint we'll do some burn tests here in a little bit okay yesterday i didn't have time to do a burn test on this so we're gonna do it today we're just gonna open this up and we're gonna light it and we're gonna let it burn so so so you
