Please explain how to make the balsam negroni - featuring balsam american amaro

hi and welcome back to best drink recipes I'm a lion Mountjoy and now we are going to make a very special version of the Negroni for you using the exceptional Boyd and Blair vodka and its new American Amaro balsam and we're going to add a little dry vermouth just to harmonize and Zen these two guys together so if you know the classic Negroni it's it's technically gin Campari and sweet vermouth and they do equal parts 1 1 and 1 that's the classic way to do it we are going to do a variation on that so in our Japanese beaker we're going to use one and a half ounces of our Boyd and Blair potato-based vodka we're going to use half an ounce of the powerful balsam and we're going to use an ounce of our dry vermouth so with our [ __ ] let's add half an ounce of our balsam we're just going to use a half an ounce because this stuff is dynamite one and a half of the smooth as silk Boyd and Blair vodka and you go and one ounce of the driver moves there we go and now let's get our eyes so that we can show this down perfect now we can just drop this in as a whole and spend more time diluting it or we can give it a crack and hasten the dilution there we go now let's stir I'm gonna mix this all around make sure right really chill this down and dilute it as quickly as possible but also not to bruise it which in effect means over diluting it because once you do that it can never go back just like adding too much pepper to your dish they can never go back while there is oftentimes a usual time you go around it's also to feel and the taste that said we're gonna give this a little taste test right now and see where we're at it's gonna be good but we need just a little bit more and I can determine that by the amount of bite I'm getting on the side of my tongue usually that's from the alcohol content as with almost every cocktail one of the cornerstones of cocktail is in fact water and even must be the bitters alcohol is some sort of fruit or something like that but the actual dilutions of a cocktail is one of the cornerstones and that's what we're doing now let's taste it again we're they're so using our julep strainer we're going to strain it right into our beautiful little coupe here it's got that beautiful Southern California golden color and we're going to accentuate that with our lemon and we're going to just loosen that up a little bit so that we get more of the essential oils out of this lemon of course we're going to express this from about chin height now for some of you that might be eye height I'm a little taller than the average animal almost Serkis tall if you will so I would say going from about here and you can just see that cascade down I'm going to rim it here with a stem and the foot so whoever drinks this will have it literally all over themselves by the time they're drinking it and finished and here you have the exceptional balsam Negroni now if you'd like to see the review that we did for the amazing balsam you can find that right there or if you'd like to see another cocktail that we made using the balsam find that right there and while you're considering that I will indulge in this I'm a huge fan of the Negroni I'm a huge fan of the balsam this balsam Negroni is incredible I could drink 13 of these I'm not going to because I'll explode into a ball of flame but I could do that so again if you'd like to see the review that we did for this amazing American American tomorrow you can find that right here or if you'd like to see another cocktail that we do it's right there thank you for watching us we'd love to hear from you please subscribe or comment and thank you for watching this is Eli Mountjoy and you're watching best drink recipes we look forward to seeing you guys at the next string
