This tutorial by Needlepointers.com will show
you how to make a simple lined zipper pouch. What you will need is a zipper, two pieces
of fabric for the outer, fabric two pieces of fabric for the lining. Now, what I did was I
cut it the fabric exactly the size of the zipper. And for the length, you decide the length and to
that you would add three-quarters of an inch. So, for this demonstration, my zipper including
the tape is eight and a half inches and I wanted it my pouch to be about five inches
wide so I cut the fabric eight and a half by five and 3/4. Take your outer fabric place it
right side up. Take your zipper, unzip it just slightly, and place it right side down or the pull side
down on the edge of the fabric and pin in place. Now, take your lining fabric and place
it right side down along the same edge. Then we're going to need to go to the
sewing machine and we're going to be showing our zipper into the pieces. Install
the zipper foot on your machine. Now, I like to line up the edge of my zipper foot with
the edge of the material. Backtack and then stitch along removing the pins as
you go along. Now when you get close to the zipper pull, which I am now, have your needle
down, lift the presser foot, turn the fabric and zip your zipper up. Turn it back around
and continue stitching. As you can see, you put the zipper in. Now we're going to do
this exact same thing on the other side. Fabric down. The fabric with right side
up and we're going to pin this along here and put in the lining on and sew it.
And then I'll show you what it looks like. Okay, this is what it looks like and
what I've done already is I've ironed the fabric away from the zipper. Now, we're going
to topstitch close to where the fold is. Okay, open the zipper about 3/4 of the way. Then we're going to match up the
outer fabrics and the lining. Start with the outer fabric pin it together. When you get to where the zipper is. You
want the zipper to go in the direction of the lining and match up
the outer fabrics together. Okay as you can see I have a pinned, and what
I am going to be doing when I sew it, I'm going to be leaving an opening, large enough,
about large enough that I can put my hand in there. So that we can turn it. Now we're going
to go over to the sewing machine and we're going to sew along here using a half inch
seam allowance. As you can see I've stitched all the way around. Now, what we're going
to do is we're going to clip the corners. Insert your hand and turn it right-side out. Ok, use something to get the corners out. You
want to do the same thing on this. Okay, and then what we're going to do, we're going to take it, and
just topstitch this opening closed. As you can see I top stitched and I used a contrasting
thread so you could see what I did. Now, all you have to do is insert the lining into
your bag and there you have a cute pouch. I hope that you found this video helpful and you make
