Please explain how to make organic fertiliser - comfrey manure

hello my name is clive groves first generation nurseryman and today i'm going to tell you about making your own manure and what we're going to learn about is comfort manure it's very rich in potash it's organic and it's very cheap because you can make it yourself now it's high in potash so that means it's good for ripening fruit so it's good on your tomato helps it ripen and also it puts flavor into your fruit so fruit bush fruit soft fruit and also flowers it helps put a color and helps good flowering so it's a good fertilizer to have so first of all we have to find um a receptacle and i tend to use water butts they're very good they've got a tap on the bottom and easy to turn it off to pour off your liquid but you don't have to have that you can have a dust bin and make a hole in the bottom or even a bucket anything smaller like that but first of all you have to make a reservoir on the bottom to catch the um the manure so we're going to use polystyrene you can use polystyrene or you can use just um wire just um scrumping up some wire netting or in fact just gravel pour scrabble as stone for anything you can have an area that catches the liquid except from the solid material okay that looks pretty much there okay right that's the uh the cavity sorted out to collect the uh manure now we've got to do something about getting the uh the comfrey i usually wear these long gloves especially in summer time when i've got rolled up sleeves because uh they are sort of quite hairy and they can be a bit of an irritant so um it's always to put your marigolds on and also another essential tool let's see the comfrey shall we right now um rather than go out um in the hedgerows or trying to find comfrey and having the uh the awkwardness of having it drag it back with you and it's easier to buy a few plants and you will find them on our website and then you can make several rows in your garden and here we we have several rows and i'm going to start cutting these now nice and close to the bottom just hacking them off placing them in the barrel you'll find you hack these off they'll have grown back to their original size in a very rapid time literally in um oh two to three weeks you'll find they're the same height again so so don't be frightened you won't lose them they'll always break up again from the base okay well we're getting there one more batch i think of course it does all shrink down so don't worry about overfilling but there we are we've got to the top there now all you need to do really is to um apply some sort of a weight so that you can compress them so here we've got a slab that we'll put on there it's already sunk a bit there and perhaps a stone as well for a bit more weight okay so there we are that's got the weight on there let's find a lid and there we go you'll need um this will break down fairly rapidly you'll need to top it up probably just once a week with fresh leaf and if the weather is warm you can be drawing off your first uh manure some people call it comfrey tea in about three weeks times that will give you a good source of uh manure high impottas manure for the whole of the summer okay so you saw the demonstration and here we are with our everyday trusted working model uh and um let's just see if we got something in there shall we let's have a look right let's have a look ah there we go good pure non-smelling liquid manure comfrey t and there we go so there we are good fertilizer normally um you dilute this down a bit more um but it's cheap in fact it's almost free once you've got the plants and it's wholesome for the plants and just give it a try thank you very much indeed
