hi i'm kathy from the wilton decorating room marquee letters are a huge trend right now we're seeing them interiors everywhere hanging in the walls and homes restaurants and in clubs why not top your next cake with them we'll be using the letters from the 101 cutter set start with some gum paste that has been tinted like gray roll out your gum paste to 1 16 of an inch thick to make this easy use the 9 inch rolling pin fitted with the pink guide rings dust your board with cornstarch using the dust and store dusting pouch cut out your message using the letter cutters from the 101 cutter set press firmly on your letters to ensure a clean cut place your cut letters on your dusted board to prevent sticking once again roll out your gum paste to 1 16 of an inch thick use a ruler and the fondant trimmer to cut strips the strip should be 3 8 of an inch thick you will need one strip for the edge of each letter cut each strip so they are long enough to go around the perimeter of each letter use gum glue adhesive and a decorating brush to paint the edge of each letter attach your strip to the top of the letter when working on the letter o do the inside strip first use a spatula or your fingers to straighten out the strips use a tapered spatula to crease the gum paste so you can achieve a sharp corner allow your gum paste letters to dry overnight spray your letters with silver color mist to achieve a shiny appearance use yellow icing and a decorating bag fitted with tip three pipe dots evenly spaced on your letters to look like light bulbs using these marquee letters you can create words and phrases that could be used for any occasion like birthdays showers weddings and anniversaries what decorating ideas would you like to see next tell us in the comments below and be sure to subscribe for more inspiring ideas visit us at wilton.com i'm kathy thanks for watching you
