okay here for day two of insulating my attic one with the green fiber insulation which is essentially ground up newspaper has eighty-five percent recycled content I'm going to add six inches everywhere on top of what's there and some more in some spots but average six inches which will add an r-value of 21 on top of what's there and will approximately cover a 12 by 12 area from that I figured I needed about a hundred bags to do the whole thing plus the garage attic which doesn't have anything and basically this is a two-person job it's pretty easy but it makes a mess that's the worst thing about it and you have to be careful where you where you're walking up in the attic other than that it's very easy my wife Sam you get in here in a little while she's going to feed the Machine and in the bottom there's a rotor that turns to break up the insulation and then the Machine also forces air through the hose that blows the insulation up into the Attic this is probably the biggest bang through your buck a project when it comes to home improvement projects just because it's going to save you a ton on your energy bills and give you return on investment fairly quickly um and a good thing about it is anybody can can get the equipment to do this because if you go to Lowe's and buy the insulation or probably any other home improvement place they will give you the machine for essentially free though you do have to give them $250 that that that they hold until you return the machine and they'll give it back to you so it's really not that big a deal you're essentially getting it for free if you don't mess the machine up um other than that pretty easy to do and get going on it here real soon we're getting ready to work the million people are going to see you on YouTube let's see the goggles from the mask was your mass which you show them how you put your mask on sideways yeah yeah that's the way the mask actually goes the other day she or not just the other day but a few times she put it on sideways and obviously your nose wants me another tuna then for the machine got some earplugs that's good for down here for up there I got the better respirator and a headlamp and we're good to go we're good to blow some insulation all right here's over the garage and I say earlier you just got to be careful where you walk out here you can definitely see where to go just uh walk on the boards but when you're walking in the old insulation you got a really feel before you put your foot down um other than that it's pretty safe you definitely don't want to put your foot down here though then be going through the drywall and take quite a fall and potentially really hurt yourself so that's the biggest thing about being up here you could get hurt by falling through and especially here where the ceilings tall over the garage and you'd fall in on concrete that would be really bad so a few things to before you get going you want to go around and check all of your soffit vents and my soffit vents I'm talking about those make sure that they're all up because half of mine were fallen down so I took more insulation and kind of packed around it to hold them all up that one I haven't done yet that one doesn't look too bad but I had like half of them were just laying on the ground or I mean on the insulation so basically what that wood thought what that does is that allows the air from from from the eaves on the soffit to flow through and then go up through the roof fence and that keeps your attic cool in the summer to let all the hot air get out so go around make sure all those are in a good spot and in working condition and run anything else that you need to run like that was a bathroom vent that was just open up here in the attic you're not really supposed to do that so when I put in the new soffit I ran the vent over to the soffit just like you're supposed to do and it'll vent outside so I'm going to cover those up with insulation as well and I also put new lights in the garage I write I added a couple one there and one there so I did that before I did insulation and you can definitely add new lights anywhere you want you're just going to have to brush out the insulation that's there and I think that's all you really need to know I got to do a lot a lot of this back back here yet other than that OOP it's kind of windy out there today so um I got the bedrooms done which you're way way back there this is the main part of the house I got about half of it Donna I've been filling up these cavities behind the vaulted ceiling just let the hose set and the whole cavity will fill up just move them down I get a lot to put it over there kind of did that area already a little put a note part and fill all these cavities up on this side
