hello everyone ever wonder where the golden Klimt paintings came from I'm here to show you how to use the Magnificent gold leaf using gold leaves can be pretty tricky because extremely thin unbreakable but in this tutorial hopefully you'll learn how to use them carefully and have fun so first and foremost you need the gold leaf of course next you need a nice paintbrush small in size preferably a pencil any sort as well no preferences you definitely need a scissor if you want to cut in precision to something next you'll need a paper again if you want to if you want to cut to like a shape or something if you want to cut the gold leaf to a shape some handy dandy tweezers and last but not least a cup of water you can use water but other glues also work with this I just prefer to use water if you're using the leaves for the first time it's good to wear cotton gloves as it prevents the oils on our hands to get in contact with the leaves which allows it to tear however I don't have any Quan gloves at the moment so I'll just show you how to use it without so first I'm taking this paper it's pencil and I'm just putting the pencil aside for now I want to use the paper and kind of go over the area that I want to frame course stencil around so I can cut my goal beep to the exact precise measurement so in this case it's a triangle so I'm just kind of folding the paper over to get the perfect shape of the triangle once I hold a bit and it's unfolded I just trees up the shape again for extra parity and there you go the shape that I'm going for it's really not that difficult so now I bring in my gold leaf and it comes in a booklet like this the booklet has a bunch of gold leaf papers in between them there's a thin layer of tissue to sort of protect them I bring out my tweezer and you want to be really careful at this point because it's very easily breakable and especially because we're not wearing gloves you need to be even more careful when you're using this all about pretty easily too so now that I've got it inside my air you like this my papers securely fold it over I take my scissors and I just cut around the shape that I want to go for so now when you're done cutting I'm just going to put this aside after I measure to that it is in fact correct so putting it in between the paper also helps it um cut much easier than if you tried cutting it on its own it would practically be impossible and I'm putting away the extras because you can definitely use them later on for various shapes and forms put my goal because side and at this point I'm going to take out my brush and just dab it in water a couple of times get my brush soaked completely obviously you don't want it to be overflowing what but what enough so that it covers the space you want I'm just making sure that I have all the edges completely covered at this point I'm going to bring the gold leaf back on and it's pretty tricky because it kind of sticks to the water right away but you kind of have to just be a little bit more careful so the book that I'm kind of going for is I don't want it to be exactly precisely on the triangle completely and when it does fall in you kind of can push it around do their finger and maneuver it too so it fits into the space and you get this old rustic look and voila you let the surface dry down and it'll stay put over time thanks for watching
