yeah I've been slacking so much in the videos lately I should change my name from his f Mon to McFly but let me show you what I've been up to oh we're sitting here in the Crown Vic going ahead hooked up a tachometer this is actually the same kind that I have in the Lincoln so but there's a problem with this one doesn't work see how the needle just kind of pulsates like that now there's nothing wrong with the tack the tack is fine and I actually got it hooked up the way you're supposed to but there's another problem so check this out so to fix that you're going to need one of these what is it you say well take a good look at her it's an auto meter tack adapter model night 91 17 so let's open her up and see what we're dealing with so yeah this video is going to be pretty much a follow-up to my other tack off in a video I did about a couple summers ago penny you ever watch that you saw that uh I hooked up a tachometer to the 81 Lincoln real easy to do just hooked into the ignition call but fortunately for the Crown Vic you're going to need one of these and this principle applies to most modern vehicles that don't they have like a coil on plug ignition setup like this one so these are really easy to hook up to you just got four wires one is your ground ones your a tack input the other two they hook into the wiring harness on the on the car and I'm going to show you how to do that so now this box right here got a head order at the local speed shop they don't carry it at like Canadian Tire Wall murderers any store like that now if you're hooking it up on a lake like a late 90s Ford that's the part number you want if you order something like this so just remember that when you go down to the store alright well let's head on outside and see what we're up to well you tube here we are under the hood now nice to speed things up I just went ahead and already crimped on the little connectors there on both the box and the wires coming out of the firewall there now hooking this up is really actually pretty simple soon as you find out which wire it is you need though I meet on this Crown Vic in particular the tax signal wire comes out of this thing right here and you can see it it's a red one with a green stripe now comes out of here we goes down into this big mess of wires into the PCM there so once you cut that go ahead and crimp a couple ends on there now the end coming out of the PCM that is your juice wire in the end coming out of this little black box here well what I mean is there's juice in this end but not this and so keep that money when you go to hook it up alright now let's go ahead and see while getting this thing in here now this applies to most late nineties Fords but if you're working on like a Mustang or solvent you're better off hooking this box up over there because that's where all your wiring is for it on that car guys for GM or Chrysler I'm pretty sure it's just I'm pretty sure it's the same concept but you'll just have to look it up and make sure that you know what you're doing so I think right here someplace may be a good suitable nicely suitable for this box to be mounted you also get some screws with the little key tool to do that so now on on the box you got a solid red wire coming out of it then you got like a pinkish red wire with a green stripe on it take the solid red plug it in to the end coming out of the PCM take the other wire plug it in the other all right that takes care of that now next thing is to I already hit one end of this your gray wire coming out of that box it splices in the green wire coming out of the back tack off over there that you're taxing the fire now lastly like every my sister dawn of time yet your ground wire so I'm just going to go ahead and find a good place to bolt this to I think that I'm going to write here coming over here see how the fender here my piece of the entire ratchet wants to work there we go alright I'm going to go ahead and bolt down that ground wire and we'll see what we get all right moment of truth let's see what we get nice alright let's take a ride and see how she works if not bad not bad okay 80 climbers and overdrive that's about we looking at 1300 rpms not bad not too bad at all well hopefully this video was helpful to you it may have seen a little rash that is try actually trying to get this done before the Sun went down but I did it so well hope y'all enjoyed the video and hopefully then itches all your questions and how to hook up a tachometer and a newer vehicle that doesn't have you know a distributor style ignition system so already you tube take her easy
