so in this video I'm going to show you how to crochet this personalized blanket so I'm first going to show you how to make this very easy blanket pattern and I'm then going to show you how to crochet a name or a word or a letter on to your blanket and you can add any name that you like so thank you very much for watching and please make sure to subscribe to my channel for more crochet the thing that we're going to do if we are going to make a slipknot so to do a slipknot you want to take your yarn and you want to take your finger and you want to wrap the yarn around your finger once and then twice then take the first loop and pull it over the second loop and then take the second loop and pull it all the way over your finger you then want to take your crochet hook go in through this space and pull tight and there you have a little box you have your Slipknot we're now going to make our foundation chain and you can make your foundation chain as long or as short as you like and the longer you make your chain the wider your blanket will be but your foundation chain must be an even number so you need to chain an even number for your foundation chain so I have just finished making my foundation chain and I have only made a small little chain as I am just doing a sample size blanket for the video so we are now going to move on to round one and round one is very simple we're simply going to repeat single crochet chain one skip the next chain all the way along so we're going to do single crochet chain one skip the next chain single crochet chain one skip the next chain single crochet chain one skip the next chain and we're going to repeat that all the way along for round one so we're going to start off by working our first single crochet into the second chain from the hook so here's the first chain from the hook and the second chain and into this chain we're going to work our first single crochet so to do a single crochet you want to insert your hook into the chain the second chain from the hook then yarn over and pull up a loop and then yarn over and pull through both loops on your hook so there we have our third single crochet and we're going to chain one and skip the next chain here this is the chain that we worked into we're going to skip this one and we're going to repeat that again we're going to get into the next chain and do a single crochet then we're going to chain one and skip the next chain then we're going to do single crochet into the next chain chain one and skip the next chain and you want to repeat that all the way along no matter how long your foundation chain is I have just finished working that all the way along for Row one or round one and I have worked my last set single crochet chain one and I have two chains left so I'm going to skip this chain and into the very last chain so this is my Slipknot and this is my last chain I'm going to work a final single crochet like that and they're now ready to move on to round Aliya one two round two of our blankets and we're going to start off round two by chaining one and turning so chain one and turn and we're now going to work one single crochet into this very first stitch so not the chain one which is here but into the very first so this stitch is the last single crochet from the end of last round so we're going to go into that stitch and we're going to work one single crochet like that and now for the rest of Round two we are simply going to repeat the same set of stitches as we used last round so that was one single crochet and chain one and skip the next one finger crochet chain one skip the next stitch and we're going to be working into the chain one spaces from last round so into the spaces in between the single crochets so we've done one single crochet and we're now going to go into the chain one space here the next chain one space and we're going to work a single crochet and then we're going to chain one and we're going to skip the next stitch which is a single crochet and we're going to repeat that again we're going to go into the next chain one space in between the single crochets then we're going to chain one and skip the next stitch which is a single crochet then we're going to go into the next chain one space and do a single crochet chain one and skip the single crochet then we're going to do single crochet chain one skip the next single crochet and do that all the way along for round two so I have just finished working that all the way along for round two or I have almost finished and this is what I have left so I've worked my last full set I've done a single crochet chain one and then I'm going to skip this single crochet here and then I'm going to go into the next chain one space and work a single crochet so this is the last two chain one space but then rather than doing chain one skip the next stitch I'm simply going to work one last double crochet into this final stitch at the end here so this is the turning chain and single crochet from the beginning of round one so I'm going to go into this stitch here at the very end and work one last single crochet so at the end of Round two you should just have two single crochets in a row like that and we're now ready to move on to round sylvilla one two round three and we're going to start off round three with a chain one and term and we're now going to do the same thing as last round and we're going to do a very first single crochet into this first stitch here so this is the last single crochet from the end of last round so here's our chain 1 and here is our single crochet and we're going to go into the first single crochet or the first stitch and work a single crochet like that and now we are going to chain 1 and we're going to skip this next single crochet here and then for the rest of round 3 we are simply going to repeat the same set of stitches that we did last round we're going to do single crochet chain 1 skip the next stitch single crochet chain 1 skip the next stitch all the way along and we are working into the chain 1 spaces from the previous round so here we've done single crochet chain 1 and we're going to skip this single crochet here and into the next chain one space we're going to do single crochet and chain 1 so this is the first chain one space then we're going to skip the next stitch and into the next chain one space we're going to do single crochet chain one skip the next single crochet and into the next space do single crochet chain 1 skip the next stitch single crochet chain 1 skip the next stitch and you want to do that all the way along for round I have just finished working that all the way along for round 3 and I have come to the very end and at the very end you should have 2 single crochets in a row that we worked at the beginning of round 2 so here's one single crochet and then here is the next one and what we're going to do is I have done single crochet chain one and we're going to skip the next stitch so that is the first stitch of those two single crochets and then into the very last single crochet I am going to do a final single crochet so we are just going to skip the first one of those single crochets and then work a final single crochet into the last one and there I have completed rounds one two and three and we're ready to move on to the next frame you're now moving on to the next round of our blanket and for the rest of our blankets we are simply going to repeat round two and then round three so here we have them round one two and three so I have finished round three so I would now move on to round two again and then I would repeat round three then round two then round three then round two then round three and you want to do that for as long as you want until you feel that your blanket is long enough so once you have finished working the length of your blankets you may want to add a name or a letter or a word onto your blankets using this method and this method is the surface slip stitch method so I'm going to add a little three-letter name into the bottom right hand corner of my blanket but you can crochet whatever you want whatever name and you can put it wherever you like and you can make it as big or as small as you like using the same method the surface slip stitch method but I would recommend before you do this you actually finish your blanket it's more difficult if you have your ends that aren't weaved in and if you haven't finished it and see I have already made an E and I am making the name either so I'm doing a VA so I'm going to move on to the V now and what you want to do no matter what letter or what name you are doing is you want to choose what space you are going into so you want to choose where you're going to start your letter so for my e I started here and I worked down then I did the same thing across across and across and for my V I think I'm going to start here and I'm going to go down and up so you want to choose the space that you're going to go into and you want to insert your hook into the space downwards so you want to insert your hook through to the back and then around the back these are all of my ends that I need to weave in so don't mind them but around the back you want to take your yarn and place it over the end of your crochet hook and then pick it up and pull it through the stitch so now at this point you could actually draw your letters onto your work so using a pencil or using some tailors chalk if you have that you could very lightly draw your letters as you want them onto your work and then make sure that you crochet or flip stitch over them to cover up the lines but if you don't want to do that then you can just freehand it and that is what I did with the e but if you are doing a a a or something like that that's more complicated you may want to draw it so this is what I have and we have our yarn and our hook in the stitch that we are starting in and I'm going to freehand my letters I'm not going to draw them on but if you do draw them on it will be easier and around the back I just show you I have in my hand the yarn coming from the ball and I have dropped the straggler end or the tail so what you want to do is you now want to go into the stitch that you are going to go into so if you were doing a straight line so like this e you will just go directly into the stitch below or up above if you were doing an A or a curved letter you'll sort of go to the side diagonal but I'm doing a V so I'm going to go diagonal as well as I'm going to go straight down and you want to insert your hook down into the space that you're going to go into and then sort of turn your work around to the back and pick up your yarn your yarn coming from the ball and pick it up and pull it through and now just like a slip stitch you simply want to pick this up and pull this through the stitch and you can see here that I need to pull my straggler end and there we go there we have worked our first stitch and I'm now going to insert my hook down into the next stitch that I'm going to go into and depending what letter you were doing you will be going in all different directions but you can do this in any direction that you want and if you were struggling you may want to turn your work and you may find it a bit easier to pick up the yarn and pull it through as that can be a bit tricky at first so I'm simply going to insert my hook down into the next stitch and then turn my work around and pick up my yarn and pull it through the stitch and then I'm going to pick this up and pull it through the loop on my hook and then pull like that am I going to do this again I'm going to go down into the next stitch pick up the yarn and pull it through and after a while you will be able to pull it through the loop at the same time as you pull it through the stitch like I have done there which makes it a lot quicker and then I'm going to go down into the next stitch and pick up my yard so I'm going around the back and I'm picking up this yarn like that and pulling it through and then you should have two loops on your hook just as you do with a slip stitch pull this loop through looks I've dropped it so pull this three like that and you can see I'm going in a diagonal line to get my V and you just want to continue doing that for your letter so I have finished working the name Eve ei as I have fastened off and I'm now going to weave the ends into the back of my blanket so that is it for this video thank you very much for watching I hope you enjoyed it and found it easy to follow please make sure to subscribe to my channel for more crochet videos and thanks again for watching bye
