Please explain how to: deep clean a crested gecko tank

hey guys so today's video is going to be how to deep clean your crested geckos terrarium the very UM enclosure whatever you want to call it we're going to be cleaning out my crested geckos tank today and I figured that I would just show you and make this the first video for my channel I do plan on having a lot more videos on how to set it up some essentials I recommend but yeah I'm super excited to be starting this channel and yeah so let's just get started so I will be doing a separate video all about the tank and everything and all the contents inside um I will film it right after I film this video of cleaning it out I will film the video of putting everything back letting you guys know like where everything is from so yeah let's just get started so this is just a 20 gallon fish tank 20 high as opposed 20 long and yeah it just has my heat lamp and obviously everything in there so the first thing that we're going to be doing is obviously taking out our crested gecko now the real challenge is to find where he's at I have a lot of greenery that he likes to hide under and behind so there you are in the back wall so I'm just going to be putting him in a um and like a critter keeper type of thing it's one of the largest ones that they carry I believe um if you might be a little jumpy so this is my crusty this is I'll oh I've had him for probably arm about two and a half months and I am completely obsessed with him okay so now that he's in his little critter keeper all nice and safe I'm just going to put him right here right next to the stand um if you want you can put on like in a closet somewhere dark if it's really bright in your room so I just have some lights so I can show you guys the tank so I'm just going to start by taking everything out and I'm going to soak it all in from hot water and then I will be right back ok so now that his um decorations are soaking in hot water right now some people use vinegar or bleach to soak the plants and stuff I personally just like to soak them in really hot water um because I would never want any traces of vinegar or bleach to be on there and hurt my gecko in any way so I just do it in super hot water um as for the rest of this stuff I am just going to use a garbage bag and carefully try to dump this in here as best as I can so I'm going to do it off camera so now that his tank is empty except for a few little pieces at the bottom I'm not going to worry about those right now I'm going to get them out when I wipe out the tank so as you can see there's some kind of poop going on down the sides so for that I'm just going to be taking a little bit of the National Geographic glass cleaning spray so this is just the National Geographic glass cleaning spray I just got this right off of Amazon I believe I'm not entirely sure on where I got this if I can find it I will link it down low but this is obviously a reptile safe but it's good for glass acrylic and other hard tank surfaces helps remove calcium buildup debris and stains so obviously I have a lot of calcium buildup because I spray his tank daily and then obviously his debris over there so I'm just going to spray a little bit all over now I do have a background so the back of the tank you can't really even see the water marks but then just going to spray it lightly okay so now with a razor blade I'm going to be scraping off all of the debris you can also use a putty knife but I do not have one so I'm just going to basically be scratching off all of the water marks you okay so now that I'm finally done scraping that was a quite time-consuming I don't know how I feel about this spray it is very very strong and pungent so now I'm just going to wipe it out with some paper towel it says you don't have to rinse rinse this but since I have a crested gecko in they lick off walls and leaves and stuff I am going to wipe it spray it with water and then wipe it again just so that there's no trace of this cleaner you so then I just wiped it out with the paper towel got the rest of the bedding off the bottom and now I'm going to go in with some water just a little bit and just make sure that everything is washed away this is a very strong smelling cleaner that is for sure so I don't know if I will be continuing to uses in the future I might find something a little more not so smelly there because if it bothers my nose I can only imagine how it is to a reptiles nose so I mean I could be wrong with the sense but definitely not good for the fumes or for him to be licking off the walls okay now the tank is completely clean now it just says to wait about five to ten minutes before putting the reptile back in so that's what I'm going to do while I'm scrubbing his decor um but yeah that's basically it for the deep cleaning portion of this now I am going to be filming a video right after the showing how I reset everything back up as well as where I got basically my entire setup and everything inside so if you guys are interested in seeing how I put this back together I will link my video down below when it's up but thank you guys so much for watching and I'll see you guys in my next video bye
