Hi. Welcome to Expert Village. I'm Gretchen Soares and today we're going to be making a rag blanket. Okay, we're ready in this clip to cut out our fabric. I like to use a nice self healing rotary mat. It has a grid on here which is going to make life a lot easier when it goes to measuring things, and also when I use my rotary blade, it doesn't cause problems. If I where to use it on my counter, it would kill my blade, and if I where to use it on a table surface, it would scratch the surface. So this is a self healing mat that we use. We're going to lay our fabric out, nice and straight, and for this project, we're going to make nine inch blocks. So I'm going to get my square ruler that has this, inches marked down on it on both sides, so it's going to be very simple to set this on the nine inch mark on both sides so that I can make a nine inch square. Sometimes when you're cutting multiples of the same fabric, it's easier to cut a nine inch wide strip and then to come back and cut our squares out of it. Which is what I've done here. And we're going to cut our squares.
