Please explain how to reupholster a dining room chair

project for today which I will be spending the rest of the time doing today is we're going to get rid of this fabric first things first is I got to take the seat off so we can reap ulster it so I kind of had a change of heart on how to do this go around the outside with the utility knife and then cut an edge and just yank up with the needlenose pliers on the fabric and that rips the ends of the of the staples up instead of going one by one which is just crazy so anyway so reusing your template from the seat that you pulled the staples out individually this helps if you've never cut this before and you don't know exactly the dimensions just reuse the old fabric you can cut it close to the old seat if you are fairly experienced with reupholstering otherwise just cut a big square and have extra material you can always trim it down later after you pull it the advantage of having extra material is then that you you can pull it a lot tighter and get a lot better purchase on it when you're stapling so here's my wife using the long edge for the outside edge of the seat she's going around and stapling all the sides first pulling it tight as she goes she starts with the long side flips it over does the short side this is the side where the back of the seat is again pulling it tight fighting all the creases making sure she's knocking all those down now she switches to each of the sides of the chairs pulling them tight as she goes to do the corners you can fold with however you like it's it's more of an artistic choice than anything you can see that she's going around and she's doing kind of a rotating pattern so the pattern is all folded in the same direction all the folds of the corners are all going in the same direction you don't have to do that you can have all the corn on all the sides going to the center or towards the front of the seat and really it doesn't matter once you get it all screwed into place it it doesn't change the look of it that much no one you'll see at the end they don't really differ Here I am spraying it down with Scotchgard we gave three coats of Scotchgard we just sprayed it just like I'm doing nice even light coats making sure you got every inch covered make sure you pay special attention to hold the seat up and spray the sides it's it's really easy to remember you know to spray the flat part of the seat but make sure you get the size just like I'm doing here and that will ensure that your your seat is as protected as they possibly can be and that's pretty much it just let them dry make sure they drive fully before you hit it with the second coat we were doing at least 30 minutes like I said three coats is pretty much all you need you probably get away with - up to you I don't have a great recommendation for how to do this other than place the bottom down have the outside facing away from you get your chair frame back on and really just try and eyeball this as best as you can the holes are there so once you pierce the fabric it should line up that's assuming it was lined up in the first place right there's four seats reupholstered we put back in place need to do this and probably I don't know four hours depending on how industrious you are it helped because I had Leia here and she did a lot of the work with the upholstering parts and didn't want anything to do with that and she did a good job
