you'll notice that this dog is grounded by a grounding pad on the lounge chair but he's no longer interested fact he's interested over here what's this these are pine pollen catkins the dog is not allowed around them please do his fur these are longer and it oops it comes out so that's yeah that's not that's not quite right hello yellow moustache I harvested catkins the male quote-unquote flower of pine trees it was just raining so they are actually quite drenched in water I harvested them about five days ago I put them in wide bowls spread out to let them dry when you dude let them dry just make sure that if they aren't drawing quickly like within 3-4 days that they can develop mold if it takes that long so make sure they do dry quickly keep in a warm dry even sunlit area the way to take the pine pollen out of these catkins and if you can see that they're already just oozing pine pollen but they're dry so it's not really using I will put all the catkins into one bowl then I'll use this to shift these capsules I'm using two sifters one is large with bigger holes and I'll finish with a fine sifter this of course is an outside activity unless you want your indoors to be full of fine pollen nothing wrong with that pine pollen is not as allergenic as other pine as other pollens some people think they're allergic to pine pollen but they're usually allergic to the many other pollens in the spring I'm sifting this briskly using my hand to keep things from popping out some stuff that pops out is fine because we'll be using our fine strainer at the end to get that out leaving just the pure yellow freshly harvested pine pollen there are many types of pine trees a lot of the Pines around here are Monterey pine which have very small catkins and they're worth harvesting but you won't get that much pine pollen out of them alright these catkins make great compost if you have chickens you can feed them to chickens there's a little bit of pine pollen left but that isn't really worth them getting any more out because we've already got a lot right here now that I have my semi sifted pine pollen I will use this fine sifter to get out all the little bits of fiber from the catkins look at all that time pong this variety of pine is really delicious the more potent varieties of pine can be more bitter more essentially this one because sweeter I'm going to guess that it's less androgenic the phyto androgens and pine pollen are really good for our hormones both men and women's hormones I'm going to do one more stream to make sure I get all the little pieces of fiber out that's a lot of pine pollen right there there we are pine pollen fresh dry still volatile so it's good to since this isn't perfectly dried it's good to freeze just keep in the freezer now that's a big amount right here really good trick is if you do it dry in your mouth exhale out your nose otherwise you'll inhale it into your lungs and cough hi melon can be used in just about every recipe it goes well in savory food and sweet foods and drinks in dehydrated foods whatever you want to put it in to give your recipe that superfood kick will work you want to try it yeah it's all fluffy let's see how much pine pollen we got putting into a pint-sized reusable mason jar looks like we got about over half a cup more like 2/3 of a cup from a big bowl of catkins which is a lot these catkins took 20 minutes to harvest a couple days to dry and about $50 with the pine pollen this pine pollen is not cracked if we wet made it wet and froze it that might crack a small percentage of them truly cracked pine pollen which is the standard when you buy it is more open celled more digestible just like a lot of sea weeds and allergies that you buy like chlorella the most optimal chlorella is crack cell wall curler Ella but this is still nutritious I'm not sure what percentage because it's not cracked of phyto antigens we're going to get out of it I imagine it's still substantial and there's so many other nutrients we got the yellow colors that's antioxidants in here local homemade superfood at its finest hey everyone Christian Bates thank you so much for watching my pine pollen video you know that video was actually a couple years in the making the catkin part we were pulling it off the tree that was from 2010 or 11 and the part where I was sifting it was from last year around this time March or April of 2012 well it's early April right now 2013 and it is pine pollen season which is great time to actually finally produce this video but I wanted to show you how I consume pine pollen year-round even when I run out of my fresh locally harvested pine pollen right here is cracked cell wall pine pollen it's a brilliant yellow color and this is stuff you can buy one teaspoon amount is really good dosage this is 1300 milligrams yep so just over a gram this right here is a very special and rare product this is a ten to one extract of cracked cell wall pine pollen it's a hot water extracts with no weird solvents used as very potent all the active constituents are concentrated and all the fibers are removed so this little tiny dosage which is 135 milligrams is the equivalent of this whopping teaspoon of whole crack cell pine pollen but let me show you this this right here is longevity in a bottle it's my signature product it's 60 of the world's greatest super foods and herbs all concentrated into the ultimate elixir of health this is one dosage two teaspoons you can always take more or less than this but I like to take one to three of these maybe more per day now every dosage has this in it there's 60 herbs and one of those herbs slash superfoods is pine pollen extract which really means that every time I have a dosage of this I'm having a good sized dosage of pine pollen even if I'm out of pine pollen I wanted to share that with you there's so many tonic herbs in longevity in the bottle which are tonic they're safe for daily use they don't have weird side effects they're not like harsh and medicinal they're very deeply nourishing and have compounding a cumulative effect every day feel really good from taking it but over a lifetime you really build up your vitality and your longevity and of course with speaking about pine pollen and angiogenic substance is going to help balance out your various hormones since we have an epidemic of what's called estrogen dominance that basically means not enough testosterone and too many bad types of estrogen and for win maybe not enough testosterone but definitely not enough progesterone and too many types of a bad estrogens pine pollen is your ally in this so many of the tonic herbs is your ally in fixing this issue it's kind of a under-the-radar issue in a lot of the health world like we know we got to get our vitamins in we know we got a detox we know we got to be like adding in a lot of fitness activities into our life and just getting toxins out and more organic fresh local foods in but you might not really have like a reference point for what having good hormones feels like other than when we are really young and it's good to even if you don't get your hormones tested right away to just start adding in things like nettle root extract and pine pollen and different types of things that are going to really help out the hormones even if your hormones are great if you're young they're going to keep them great or make them better and anybody you know past age 40 you know 30 to 50 there's definitely like this downside of hormone imbalances and then past 50 there can be some serious effects of both menopause and women in what's called andropause and men like load men getting lots of estrogens because there's xenoestrogens in the environment or pesticides from food and there's also phytoestrogens in a lot of foods that maybe we grew up on a lot of soy anyways I hope this um is impressed upon you really well I'll see you soon you wouldn't
