welcome to blueprint DIY Angelina here and today I'm going to show you how to make the classic edgy top for my summer lookbook if you want to see all my main structure of cycles please click the little I and you can check out that lookbook this is a sewing project so since I know that not all of you so I will be putting a few of these tops on my detox side and that's at blueprint DIY okay so let's get started first try on the shirt and add two pins on the shirt at the very top of your shoulder right on that bony Park now you need to take a few measurements measure from your shoulder down to your waist from your shoulder to your underarm and take a loose measurement around your waist and also your bust measurement okay now lay your shirt out and measure the distance between the pins where you measure from one side of your shoulder to the other now you need to cut the shirt one and a half inches to the outside of each pin so I'll just add three inches to my shoulder measurement and use the button line to make sure it's centered I just mark it with a pencil in two places and then mark a straight line on each side to make sure I get a nice straight line when you get to the shoulder angle your cut out parallel to the sleeve seam now you're subtract your underarm measurement from your waist length measurement and add one inch now cut each side piece to that length now you want to carefully take off the pocket with the same River if you can still see the little holes from the scenes try washing and drying it again and see if that helps now we're going to use our extra inch and a half on each side by folding the edge on each side by one quarter inch then iron that down then fold it over again by an inch and iron that down as well do this for the whole edge on both sides this will really help when it's time to sew now you measure the width of the shirt from the inside fold to the inside fold now subtract that number from half of your bust measurement and also subtract it from half of your waist measure now cut each side piece that width the width of the top of the side piece is for your bust and then the bottom is for your waist so if you're like me and you're pretty much straight up and down then it's going to kind of look like a rectangle but if you're a bust and waist are different then you get more of a triangular or a trapezoid shape now when you cut you can add just a tiny bit on each side if you're going to Serge the edges but if not just cut about a half inch away from each line and you can double fold it over and iron it down just like we did for the main top okay so once our side piece is already we can pin them in place use your underarm measurement and pin that distance from the top of the shoulder down now take one side piece and fold down the top by one inch and pin it to the inside of the shirt you're going to pin it to the inside edge of the fold then pin it to the back side now then down the bottoms now you're going to sew everything down from the front cam all the way to the back hand so I guess the shirt is technically just two stitches but I have a tip for you when you're trying to soil around the shoulder curve you will have to snip the back edge of the fold in about four places on each side to make sure your fold stays nice and defined and flat so you can see how my stitch is turned out now I'll just go and press down the seams really good and voila a two stitch classic yet edgy top I hope this wasn't too hard for you guys to follow if you enjoyed this video please share it on any social media site and to see many more up cycles like this please subscribe and become part of our community see you next time bye bye
