Please explain how to use pasture laying hens as fly control

everyone is playing with seven sons back with another video behind me here is what we call our retirement own for our laying hens most of our laying hens are in larger outdoor moveable hoop houses but what happens when our hands are done laying eggs and there they're a little older and less productive we'll take some of the hens to put them in this retirement home that we call our sanitation model and I'll put the camera around so you'll kept going on all these ladies here are in retirement which means they're about 12 to 14 months into their first life cycle they're ready to go through a mold so most of our hands are retired and sold as doing ends so we only have a select few 50 ends out here they go into our pasture sanitation model well this is basically a portable chicken house it's a lot smaller than our egg production models but the purpose of this portable unit is to follow the cattle wherever they go and these ladies job description their number one objective is to go about the pasture following the cattle about three days behind the cattle and to scratch through the manure pies and they eat all the fly larvae as that helps keep the fly cycle under control so that we have a natural basically pest control mechanism here with these lanes so every night they go back up inside here and I can show you we have a solar-powered timer and basically at 10 o'clock every evening which is when it's getting dark a lot right now these doors will automatically close make sure these ladies are back but basically timer releases at ten o'clock the door closes latches here so we don't have any raccoons or coyotes getting up inside so that keeps the end nice and safe from predators and of course next when we come out the cattle will hook on to this we can pull this with a four-wheeler or a small tractor in the head again following the cattle so this is not any different than what wild birds would have done on the Prairie following the herds of a wild buffalo acting as a the natural sanitizer for the land so I hope you enjoyed the video and encourage you to delight the video and subscribe to our Channel we'll be back soon with another video
