Please explain how to make a mint julep - drinkskool cocktails

Manjula this streak was built for bourbon synonymous with Kentucky Derby and you know it's perfect for that shit's sweet refreshing it's a perfect summertime cocktail but it's really about attention to detail you've got to make this drink correctly you've got to serve it in a silver julep cup it condenses the cold it's just got this wonderful feel to this wonderful wonderful weight to it you had you crushed ice and you've got to use fresh mint so let's start off with putting some mint leaves in the bottom of the glass make sure you don't get any of the stem but take your time with this drink you know it's it's worth it in the end you don't want to take any shortcuts here so do about eight to ten maybe a dozen leaves or so just into the bottom of the cup and then we're gonna add a little bit of simple syrup take a mother and just lightly press those leaves into the syrup just to bring out their aroma bring out the flavor you don't want to press too hard they'll get bitter and it's gonna make the drink a little bit unpleasant it's really fragile so just be careful with it all right now the other key to this drink is you've got to have crushed ice it makes such a difference it's just very refreshing so take an old-fashioned Lewes bag if you don't have a an ice crusher and a mallet and just beat the hell out of this stuff all right once you've got your ice nice and powdered just take a couple scoops of it and almost fill the glass just about to the top then we're just gonna free pour some Maker's Mark bourbon and let it just sink down through that crushed ice almost to the top you're gonna get about 2 ounces get a little bit more that's definitely not a problem and then just add a little more ice right on top just want to fill that up just over the top of the glass and then add a little bit more simple syrup right over the top and it's slowly gonna sink down over that bourbon and integrate itself into the drink then the most important part make sure you've got plenty of fresh mint sprigs make sure they're in good condition keep them chilled and wake them up you don't want this to sag over the top and look limp and sad it you want this to be a bright fresh fresh cocktail with plenty of aroma and you really want to get your face in there when you're drinking this drink you really want to smell that mint there you have it for next Kentucky Derby party mint julep
