Please explain how to bend copper pipe with a bending spring. a cheap way of bending copper tube.

i'm going to show you now um how to bend a piece of copper tube um so you don't want to use an elbow and it does restrict the flow and sometimes they do look a lot better anyway and saves you money how to do it cheaply uh one of these a bendy cheap yellow spring cost you about a pound you know diy shops it's a cheap way to do it if you haven't got access to a vending machine which is the proper way um obviously they're they're 30 40 pound to go if you just want to do a small bit of plumbing get one of these old bending springs i mean it looks rubbish but it do the job going to show you the right way and the wrong way to bend on your you know on your knee with a bit of a tube and a spring so that's what i'm going to show you the wrong way okay um when you get your bit of copper tube if you've got it been cut by a tube cutter that spring will not fit down there that's as far as it's going to go you're going to need to remove that out so if you've cut your tube okay with a tube cutter you're gonna do one or two things remove that out or saw it again i've done this end with a hacksaw once you've done it with a hacksaw the spring will fit down the tube okay make sure it's down far enough a little piece like this it all should just poked out the end down the bottom there because it's just it's just poked out at the bottom pull it back a bit now i'm going to show you the wrong way to bend this first of all if you do it like this this is probably going to be an absolute clear of a job on your knee a lot of people just get it like this and go like this now quite often that ends with ripples right through the bend now as it happens on this occasion it hasn't but normally that will end up rippled um to do it like that is usually a disaster but pull it round now if you lay out on the floor and just bend it back a little piece like that just because i've showed you it's decided to bend it quite properly and that would be square you can see that's fairly square there now back a bit on here and then spring will pop out easily and it will come out if you have a bend normally this is an old bit of chew that's why it's probably a little bit thicker and it hasn't rippled but normally you'll get ripples around the edge i'll bend this one this is the way i would normally bend a piece of copper tube put it in and bend it a lot more slowly a little bit at a time like this slowly and a bit more curve on the bend bend it a bit slowly and you shouldn't end up with many more ripples and once again get it square line up with something a set square and then i can line up with this floor now interestingly that one has got a little ripple on it you see it there and that usually it doesn't if you do it nice and slowly so you can never tell sometimes okay um once it's bent if you try to pull that spring out it can be a bit tight because it's it's grabbing on the bend so make sure you just go over a little bit and then slacking it off not just slapping it back like that the spring will pop out easily like that there you have your bend um as i say unusual there that's i was going to show that as as the right way to do it but as it happened i just swung it straight round on my knee and got it better on on that piece but normally when you try and do it like that it will ripple to devil uh and leave you a lot of really horrible marks on it but does it happen this time just to show you things never work to for all under when you're on a camera anyway there you are there's how to bend a piece of copper tube save yourself a bit of money uh keep watching i've got loads of tips out there uh derriton33 for all the other tips plumbing and anything else thank you
