Please explain how to make shaggy rug - shaggy mat

hello everyone I am Maggie and I am going to illustrate how to make a shaggy mat some people call them shaggy rugs some people call them drag mats it really doesn't matter the name that you use because at the end of the day you're going to have the same product these are the things that you're going to require you will need yarn or knitting thread different colors if you wish and one point to note is that yarns come in different thicknesses some are very thin as you can see and some are very thick like this one the most preferred is the thick one but if you do not find that thick one you can always do that in one I will show you how to make use of it you are also going to require scissors you are going to need a marker pen for drawing the design that you want on the mat mesh before you start you are going to require a crochet this is a normal crochet for knitting I will show you how to make use of it and or you can use or you can get the one that has a latch see this bit here it closes in when you're pulling the thread like that you can have either of these I'll show you how to use them you are also going to require a tape measure because you need to know the length and the width of your shaggy rack and last but not least you are going to need your mesh some people call them plastic mesh now this is the standard length that I got it's one meter long and some width but you don't have to make use of the whole width it is really big then it occurred to me but if your shaggy rag is going to be small then you can always cut to the design that you want at the end of this project we want to come up with something like the back say that shaggy rug and the floor that is what we want to make now let's start first of all cut the length that you want I have already done mine and done already started designing now that you have the design that you want on your mat mesh at least part of it because you will still need to replicate this design on this other side but for now we start working with this and you also have the yarn pieces that you wanted to use here different colors because we're making different colors you can start making your shaggy rug so this what you're going to do we are going to use the crochet that has a latch see this is how you go about it on the shaded parts that's what we are going to use our dark brown color so you take your crochet you insert it in one of the matte mesh holes like that all the way until the latches on the other side then you take your thread you fold it in two pieces until you have a loop insert that loop hook it to the crochet then close the latch you pull it out so that you have these two ends and this see now you can easily remove your crochet and then inside these two ends in the middle of that loop and pull like that let's do that again you insert the crochet into one of the holes of the mesh all the way to the other side you take your piece of yarn hold it in - to hook it to the latch closed now this is the beauty of having the latch because when you start pulling the latch will actually close itself and you can pull it and there the bit is that instead of unhooking the crochet from the thread you can actually just put it all the way hook both ends of the string wait here like that then close the latch and pull that so instead of you having to put the two ends into the loop and pull it we just use your crochet to pull see now I have two let's do that again you insert the crochet into one of the holes wait you insert the crochet into one of the holes of the magnet all the way take a piece of your yarn fold it into two hook it to the crochet close the latch pull it out not all the way because you need to leave these two ends hanging yeah like that and then you can pull them about a bit hook them to the crochet close the latch and pull see it does contain for yourself let's write that somewhere else on the same you insert the crochet into one of the mat meshes holes take your thread fold it into two so that you have a loop hook the loop to the crochet see when you pull the latch closes by itself pull it out not all the way you can size this yeah hook the two ends to the crochet close the latch and pull through the loop there you go so where you have the shredded pattern you fill with brown where you have the unshaded or the plane parts you fill with light brown these so let's try with each other so you repeat the same process you insert the crochet into one of the holes of the madness there you go fold a piece of yarn that you have have a loop then hook it close the latch pull it out then who could these two ends close the latch and pull it out you can tighten that you repeat that until you're done so once you are done with one side of your shaggy rug you can replicate that pattern to this other side then fill it up and we are hoping that by the time you're done you are going to have such a shaggy rug this video is getting a bit lengthy I will stop here and then I will do a short clip on how you can do your shaggy rug using the regular crochet thank you so much for watching if you have any questions kindly leave them in the comments and I will have a look at them thank you so much for watching bye hello everyone I am monkey and the last two videos you are making shaggy rock using a crochet that has a latch which is way much easier than using a regular crochet and in these videos I promised we are going to make a shaggy rug using well no more regular crochet and this is how it's done this is what you do you let's try with the light bronze side on the unshaded part so you insert the crochet and one of the holes of the mat mesh you take your thread you fall into to get a loop hook it but because if you pull it it's going to get hooked to the fiber of the mat mesh you turn it upside down and you pull see and then you can either just hook these two and you need to turn it to one side or all the way down because if you pull it like this it's going to hook this and to so you turn it to the said and you pull so that is it thank you so much for watching see you soon bye
