Please explain how to use a torque wrench on café racers and hot rods

my friend Hill Z from Australia has sent me a manual for my motorcycle which is pretty cool because I'm going to need a torque meter you need a torque meter because bolts on the motorcycle have a specific torquing like bolts like this on the engine and things that hold the basically what that is is when you tighten the bolt or torque it down if you torque it down too tight it might break or strip and if it's too loose it might fall out on the road when you're writing it but the way torques are measured is in kilograms per meter or foot-pounds and the bolt is attached to a rod that is one meter long you put one kilogram of weight on the pipe that's one meter long that would be one kilogram per meter of torque this is the Japanese motorcycle stuff unbound at the end of one foot that would be one foot pound and pounds at two feet that would be 20 foot pounds of at six feet at one meter and you have 17 kilograms before my torque meter I'm going to use this titanium rod just need to cut off two point one centimeters though I'm going to add a wooden handle on the end of my torque meter shaft and that way I've got something nice and solid to hang on to like well I'm just going to use some of this hot glue stick make sure your match is nice and hot to melt the glue and press the chef deep into the handle now that is badass to make my torque scale out this aluminum plate see it'll look just like this my scale goes right there I'm just going to use a little bit of blue electrical tape tape to temporarily secure then black epoxy tape then secure it with red zip ties I'm going to use this red needle for the torque indicator and standard assembly tape and a green zip tie I need a tool adapter that goes on the end of the meter so I'll just use a section of this larger titanium pipe six centimeters oh this stuff cuts fairly easy with the hacksaw to attach the tool holder to the meter I'm just going to use some epoxy putty and then just a strip of assembly tape though for zero torques I'm going to draw a line and now I need to calibrate the meter I have a bunch of these lead bb's and what I'm going to do is weigh them out in kilogram bags one two three four and so on I'm going to hang them on the end of my torque meter and that way I can calibrate the scale of the meter with so my badass meter is finished it zeroed and calibrated I have a wrench on this bolt here so you just slide the meter onto the wrench and watch as I crank the torque down and I really crank this bolt down tight so that's up to twenty kilograms per meter for these metric allen wrenches you can just use your regular metric allen wrench adapters in your tool that is a bad-ass torque meter thanks again Hill Z for sending me the manual and xB 33 BSA thanks for mailing me in this glue stick I'm going to send both you and Hill Z some Ichiban modo stickers if you want to mail me a moto gadget or a unique shop tool send me a message I'd be happy to feature them on a future episode of Ichiban moto click here to subscribe to weekly Ichiban moto videos
