Please explain how to fix an f21 code error fault on a whirlpool duet washing machine - common washer error codes

hello this is Luis cold with world branch I'm a 35 year old father of two so I spent a lot of my time fixing things around the house and one of the common problems I have is with my washing my Whirlpool Duet tumble fresh 4x4 which every now and then it has a has a drain error that you'll find in the documentation f21 it'll just stop working and then you got to start your cycle all over again it's it's pretty annoying so so I just wanted to show you the quick and easy fix and I'll probably save you hundreds of dollars instead of having to get a technician out to take a look at your at your washer and come fix it for you or even finally watch it because you think it's it's broken so in this video I'm going to show you how to correct an f21 error on a Whirlpool washer now my experience manufacturers will commonly use the same error code the same computer in many different appliances or many at least many different of the same appliances so if you have some other sort of whirlpool newer washer you might you might see this as well and it's probably about the same same fix so let's get to it and I'll show you how to correct this error very quickly and simply here in about 10 minutes now before you start this fixed it's very important to do two things first off before you before you power off the washer when hit the pause cancel button that'll automatically started draining that's that that low rumbling here you hear in the background secondly you can be working near water and electricity so normal objective person would say one of the best things you can possibly do is unplug the washer we'll do that during the break but just make sure that you unplug that power so you don't you don't have a fatal accident while you're doing this simple fix okay so once the draining completes you see that the f21 air is gone the washer has gone off and it's very important because you're gonna be pulling the water filter open you don't want to you don't want to pull that filter open while the the washer is full of water because it'll it'll go everywhere and that can cause some damage in your home you just don't want you don't want that in your life anyways once again make sure to remove the power to the washer so that as you're working around water electricity and it's not a good thing you don't want that in your life either alright so now we're going to go down here to the bottom side of the water that's usually one of the dirtiest places in your house it's definitely one of the dirtiest in mind and we're going to remove the three screws and you see I've already removed the first two screws by the power of modern video blogging and now I'm going to show you how to remove the remove the third screw just but trust me it is one quarter inch drive this thing is not going to want to focus for me but it's okay you still get the idea we're gonna go underneath the washer remove the the last screw at the bottom panel of the of the washer very easy easy to remove down here we get that thing pull it off should be three screws in the end and then you're gonna remove that panel and dropping it off ready all right now you're underneath the washer and there's all the all the gadgets and everything that make it happen all right so the main part that you're gonna be looking at you're gonna have this big white circle piece right here in front and this is your water filter now this thing is a beast to turn by hand as you can see mine's all chewed up from from previous times I've had to clear it out and I've had to use a tool of some type to to grip onto it to get the leverage that I needed to to get that thing to get that thing off so that's what I'll do here usually I use something about like a pipe wrench because it gives me the leverage I need to get in there and grab it and then turn that thing at least to get it started you have to turn this tab that's on the lid away from this this niche that's on the actual filter to get it out one full counterclockwise turn so that's what we'll do now with the pipe on the on the actual filter here and I won't i won't show you that pain but i'll show you as i at that point so this is a it's a problem I sometimes run into whenever I have to have to remove the filter you can see that there is some water starting to drip as I get that that filter loose out of its out of its hole so it's and that just means that you know you do have a clogged filter and there's some water on top of it better there's unable to get completely out unable to completely pop out so it's gonna it's gonna drain it's gonna it's got to go somewhere so what I usually do is I I'll shove a couple rides here one below the the bottom pan of the washer and the one immediately below the filter because usually whatever it does this is copious amounts of water and and you're gonna have to deal with that it's just going to be be part of the pain of doing this repair but you know at least you're not paying someone else to do it right so as you finally go to loosen it up I've already gone to full counterclockwise circle say usually I have to struggle with it with the tool of some type to get it out and then you have to be patient at this part because usually there's gonna be a lot of water that's gonna come out of this it's okay you just gotta you just gotta have a plan to catch it usually I'll go through several rags to get this done and you get it done properly so I'm gonna go ahead and drain out the rest of this thing and then usually what I'll do is I'll fill up a rag I pull that guy out put a new one in there and usually the laundry room would get pretty wet and whatnot just part of the part of the pain of this disrepair but go through it get it done and get that filter out of there okay so I finally got all the water drained out as you can see I've made plenty of a water mess around here which is which is fine that's just an easy mess to clean up something that might be useful is that something better than you know just trying to clean it up with rags as you go would be a shop-vac you know if you have a wet/dry vac that you could you could use might be a lot more a lot more helpful but you see some water is still draining out there from the from the filter as I pulled it out but it is uh it's finally mostly drained out so so I'll be able to easily clean that up after I get done now when you pull out the filter you'll see this little this little thing there's really it's not a disposable filter or a changeable filter it's just a big filter to catch large things so it doesn't get into the into the water pump there usually whenever you whenever I pull this out I will find kids socks stuck right here in this tray and that's what's causing the f21 error in the computer because it's backing up the pump unfortunately this time it looks like have some items that are lodged back there's you probably probably see survivors lodged back there in the tube so I'm gonna get me a get me a coat hanger or something like that and and get that stuff out of that out of that drainage tube there in the back so I can actually unclog this this problem and get rid of that f21 error on the water so a simple solution you've probably seen something like this before but if you have a clog in a in a tight space like that hose down there in the bottom of the washer and I just simply find a find a clothes hanger you know make yourself a metal hook clothes hanger but unraveling the top of the clothes hanger and and you know just sort of straighten it out too to give yourself a hook where you can reach down inside of that drain hose and easily pull out whatever river is clogging it up pull this together and then it maybe just you know bend it over so so that you don't have a you don't have that sharp edge that's going into the hose because you don't want to poke a hole in it or anything but you have a little little scraper loop you'll be able to use to pull your is they pull your clog out without issue so let's see how this work all right here we are with my my hanger up inside of the drain tube and I'm gonna pull that out probably expect a good deluge of water as we pull off the rest of the clog for anything I was up behind it no that wasn't as bad as I thought it was but as you can see that is a little girls four year old for your little girl's sock that's usually what's clogging it I've suggest using a using a baggy some sort of laundry bag whenever you're washing small items in these types of washers because this tends to be a common problem and that's pretty nasty especially when it sits there for a while so have fun with that now that we have our have our clog clear we can just simply do everything in Reverse put this thing back on and like I said that last that last 3/4 turn is gonna be a beast but you have to completely you have to get this notch back over to this notch to make sure it's completely closed so that your your larger washer doesn't doesn't leak as you continue to do loads so I'm gonna go ahead and continue to do that now and just so you can see this this is uh this is how I do it I literally bite down hard on that thing with a with a pipe wrench and turn it the struggle is real with this but you got to get those notches to meet and that way you didn't sure it's not gonna leak hopefully you don't have to do this as many times with your whirlpool washers what I've had to do but then then all you got to do is just just a fix that that panel back back to where it was so I'm gonna go and pull this pull this rag out I'm gonna get my panel back up here and exact opposite movement so all you do is you get that top portion there and there we go so we had a little bit of a trouble getting that bottom panel back on there but it put the screw back on everything should be should be back to normal so now you know just to prevent you from causing yourself some some problems make sure to plug it back in so that you don't think you completely broke your washing when you go to turn it back on shouldn't have any problems now usually like to like to drain it after that just to make sure that everything's working correctly don't let that let that cycle through of course if you had a head launcher in there prior to might be a good idea and go ahead and wash them again unless you know exactly where that cycle stopped but go ahead and give them a good wash
