hi i'm chef phil from chef iamb.com today we're going to show you how to chop cilantro cilantro is one of my favorite herbs we use it a lot in southwestern cooking the thing you need to be careful with is that it's grown in sandy soil so you make sure you wash it two or three times and if you're going to use it in a salad like we are today make especially uh make especially certain and be very careful to dry it properly or your vinaigrette will not adhere to the to the leaves um basically just take your take your herbs and roll them up and we're going to use our stems and everything here so we're just going to just give this a rough chop right through and just use your knife in a rocking motion back and forth the cilantro is a very very floral and fragrant fragrant herb you don't need to use a lot of it use it judiciously i might overpower a lot of your a lot of your dishes if you're not careful with the amount of herb that you put in there and just run it through you can take your you take your hand if you want and put it right on the point of the knife and just run it right through you just want to use a sawing motion you really don't want to chop you don't want to crush your herbs we have chopped cilantro i'm chef phil from chef iamb.com for the chef and you
