Please explain how to cut a glass bottle neck *bottle cutter review

hi this is Nick from bottle - lamp comm and today I'm going to demonstrate a bottleneck cutter this is a new device made from Creator stained glass Rey graciously sent us another tool toy to play with and we're gonna go ahead and demonstrate it when I got this thing the first thing I wanted to make was a hurricane lamp basically you're cutting the bottom of the bottle off and the neck as well to allow the candle heat to come up through it we have a plate that we've already made that I'll set the bottle on as well as the candle we've just put a cork bottom on it so it'll sit nice on your furniture the candle will sit on top and then what's the bottom and the neck are cut off you just place it right on top it's a neat little project this tool will allow me to do so without further ado I'd like to demonstrate it and this is the first time I've used it as well inside on the neck you'll find where your score device is this can be easily replaced if it becomes worn but the shelf life on these are very good you loosen the screw on the side and you adjust this middle piece here to where you want it on the bottle I'm going to go back away so I'm going to cut this one fairly close to the neck to the base yeah that's that's perfect now that I got it where I want I simply tighten down this screw here again that'll lock it in it's not gonna move on me I've got this resting rate on the neck of the bottle and I'm gonna hold it with my hand and rotate the bottle itself with my other hand you want to keep a pretty good firm pressure on here because you want the distance to state the same as you rotate the bottle around you don't want to over score so keep an eye on where your beginning line is and when you're coming around so you stop at the exact moment and again keep a constant steady pressure on that and I think we're ready to begin you can hear it scoring the glass there I heard it come around and hit so perfect you can see where the lines meet that's a nice score line this one's ready to separate we're going to use the hot cold process for that hot water then cold so I'm going to go ahead and make my other score line to take off the bottom and we'll do the whole thing at once all right with our bottles scored both at the neck and at the bottom we're gonna cut it right about here worried to begin the separation process again this is a hot and cold technique so we're gonna start with the hot and just kind of run it over that neck of our bottle here right on the score line and immediately put it in our water and repeat the process and there we go the next off perfect will repeat the process for the bottom now look at that alright pop right off there we go we just got a little bit of sanding to do and we'll be good to go there precious isn't it alright alright here's our finished hurricane lamp we have pictures with varying sizes again you can adjust the height of each one of these after you scored and cut them one thing I wanted to note is that it ran a little bit of sandpaper around the edges just to kind of take off any of the rough stuff you don't want to handle this and end up getting cut otherwise this is perfect again you've cut the neck of the bottle off so that the heat doesn't collect up in it rather if escapes rather easily we can have i'd like to thank-- rate for sending this to us and it's a really neat unique tool to use for types of crafts such as this people have also cut off the next bottles to play guitar with I'm not musically inclined so I'm not sure how that comes into play but others have cut off the very top let me go get that quick I suppose if you cut right here under the neck and got this top part here it sits perfectly I mean you'll be able to score just that top part right there and what you'll end up with of course it's just this piece of the bottle first thing that pops in my mind I've seen people make earrings out of them or other types of jewelry you could also incorporate them into wind chimes tying them off as sections your possibilities are unlimited once again I'd like to thank rate for sending us this to field-test today and if you have any questions leave a comment on our video blog or on the blog itself and happy crap
