Please explain how to deal with sun glare when djing outside

hey everyone its mo Jax back in the DJ city UK lab today I've got a quick tip for you summer is just around the corner and so naturally loads of you out there will be DJing at festivals barbecues block parties that kind of thing outdoors and playing outdoors does present its own unique set of challenges compared to playing in the club one of which is bright sunlight if you DJ with a laptop often when you're in that beating Sun it can be really hard to see what's going on with your DJ software in its default state now Serratos itch application was their old controller software it came before Serato DJ kind of merged with scratch live and that had an awesome feature in there called day mode basically just click on the icons at the top of the screen to go from night mode into demos and it inverts all of the application colors except for the waveform so the waveforms are still nice and clear but yeah you've got black text on a white background for your library and that does make a huge huge difference in that bright sunlight now obviously itch is dead that's gone away and unfortunately that day mode has not made its way into Serato DJ at this point I know it's a heavily requested feature and I hope it gets in there at some point in the future but there are ways to do this without having a specific function in your software and that is by converting your screen colors generally now on Mac which I'm using here on OS 10 you go into your system preferences and you going through accessibility and you can see in the display tab there there is an invert colors checkbox so you click that and it will invert the colors on your screen and you can do that also with a keyboard shortcut so we can go back into the keyboard shortcuts for keyboard preferences accessibility down here and there is an invert colors checkbox there and that will turn on the keyboard shortcut which is control alt command 8 and that will invert everything so now we can see this it setup is in night mode and it is inverted it so we've still got the black text white background very clear very easy to see now when you're inverting the whole screen the waveforms on most software don't look quite as visible but it depends on your priority if you are looking at waveforms all the time to mix with yeah that might present a problem for you but I suspect from it's working DJ's the most important thing is to be able to see your library very clearly that's the main thing more important than the waveform is really so yeah we've got that works with Serato DJ it will work with scratch live if you're still using that will work with tractor record box DJ pro all of these benefits from this invert colors setup and it will make things much more visible for you certainly in terms of your library now this is not unique to OS 10 you can do it in Windows as well it's done through the magnifier in Windows 10 so you can either open that by you know doing the windows clean searching for magnifier or you can hold down the windows key and do plus and minus on your keyboard that will open up the magnifier reset that to 100% because you want to zoom in or out but if you then click the gear icon that will give you an option to invert the colors of your screen and the same thing will apply there so there you go a nice simple tip it's free won't cost you anything to do and hopefully will improve your experience when you're DJing outdoors on those really sunny days thank you for watching today make sure you subscribe for all our future tips tricks and product reviews I'll see you soon
