Please explain how to knit | chunky cabled infinity scarf

hi guys so today I wanted to do another knitting video because this knitting season is so short that I just I had to get more in so today's is going to be on this cowl scarf and as always I do have the written instructions on my blog which I will link below if you're interested in seeing the written instructions versus just watching the video I know sometimes it's easier to just read the instructions and sometimes it's easier to watch the video it's just kind of I just want to make things easier for you guys so anyway the project I'm going to be working on like I said is this scarf I absolutely love it it's an infinity scarf so it's a little different than some of the other projects that I've had and you guys have actually been asking for in an infinity scarf so yeah this is how I would do it oh my goodness what is going on with my hair um point being oh so this is it it's got some kind of thick garter stitch sort of thing going on for the majority of it but then it's knit in a tube so I have seemed the inside of it and then I also go into some cabling here so if you're interested in cabling this is definitely something to check out I do I want to quick mention them my cabling method is a little bit different than some people I know a lot of people cable with a cable needle and I don't do that so you can certainly add that in if you feel more comfortable but I will show you how to do that without it and yeah let's get started as always the first thing that we're going to want to do is cast on and so I'm going to just wrap my yarn around my palm in kind of an X shape and then when I pull this off I'm going to have a pretzel and then that little loop right on the inner right hand side I'm actually going to stick my needle right in there and pull tight this creates a slipknot and is my first cast on stitch then I'm going to wrap the tail of the yarn around my thumb bring my needle in wrap my working yarn around and then bring that other loop off I'm going to do this 120 times I know that that's a lot but I am using a baby yarn which is a little bit lighter so I want to make this scarf nice and cozy which means I have to do a few more stitches I'm then going to start knitting by inserting my needle from front to back wrapping the working yarn around and then pulling through that other loop I'm going to continue knitting for the entirety of this row and the next two so I'm doing three knit rows in a row once those three knit rows have been completed I'm going to work a row of purl and so to do that I'm going to insert my needle from back to front this time wrapping the working yarn around that needle and pulling through the loop on the left hand side I'm just going to repeat this the entire way and this is pretty much the entire pattern for most of the scarf I'm just going to heat these four rows so three knit rows and one purl row over and over and over again until I have reached the desired length now that the main portion of my scarf is the length that I'd like it it's time to start working on the cabling and this is going to look a bit confusing at first because I don't use a cable needle but I'm just going to slip it the first four stitches off of my left hand needle and then insert my right hand needle into the two closest to the left and insert my left hand needle closest to the right then I'm going to slip the stitches that are on my right hand needle back over to the left hand side essentially creating a left hand leaning cable I'm going to knit across these four stitches and then knit two more I'm then going to repeat this process by slipping off the next four and etc etc I'm going to do this the entire length of this row you the next row is going to be much easier as I'm just going to purl across the entire row for the second cable row I'm going to knit the first two stitches and then I'm going to slip the next four stitches off of my needle just like before except now we're bringing that left-hand needle into the first two in the back and grabbing the other two with the right-hand needle from the front this will create a right-leaning cable and then I'm just going to knit the four of those then I'm just going to repeat that four stitch sequence until I have finished the row I'm going to finish this four row pattern by just purling across the row and then I'm going to repeat those last four rows that I just did so I'm going to cable with left hand leaning cables then follow with a purl row follow with right hand leaning cables and then finish it off with another purl row I'm going to continue doing this until my scarf is completely the length that I want it and then I'm just going to bind everything off the way I like to bind off is to knit the first two stitches and then with that first stitch I like to pick that up again with my left hand needle and pull that right off into the center I'm going to once again knit and then pull that second stitch off of the needle I'm going to continue in this manner until there is only one stitch remaining on my needle and I just find that this method works very well in keeping the stitches nice and even and it doesn't make your work too tight at the end either now that I have one stitch remaining I'm going to pull that last loop nice and big and usually I would trim my working yarn off of the actual yarn but I only have a little bit left so I'm just going to thread that entire ball right through that last remaining loop and pull tight from here all that's left is binding everything off or at least seen up and I'm not very good at this so I don't really want to show you too much of how I do it because I just don't want to give you the wrong idea about this so essentially all I'm doing is sewing up the sides and the tops together so there you go that is how I have made my little scarf and I hope you guys have enjoyed this if you did please give it a thumbs up I love seeing that and make sure to subscribe if you want to see more videos I do try and put out videos on Monday Wednesday and Friday also if you have any other suggestions for knitting videos or just videos in general certainly let me know in the comment section and I will see you guys later bye
