everybody I'm gonna read and welcome to my kitchen at another kitchen quickie I is fourth of July afternoon we ran to the store to get some goodies for dinner we're going to throw some sausage and some burgers on the grill and I always check the markdown produce rack even on the fourth of July and guess what I found total score but raspberries and look how much they were a dollar these work on sale two for seven not on sale they were eight dollars I think twofer no they were for fifty apiece um not on sale 350 apiece on sale and a dollar and they're marked down because some of them have a little bit of unfriendly mold on them but who cares cure Italy so I've already taken care of four packages I put one in the French because when I told Mike that I was gonna freeze them she scrunched up her nose with all of them and I said no I'll leave some out but um so what we want you to do rinse real good and remember these are very soft fruits so you'll want to be gentle with them make sure you drain them fairly well and then yes this is tedious however we're going to line these up like little soldiers and I'm going to pop this cookie sheet in the freezer so that we can individually freeze these berries then when they're frozen I'm going to take them out pop them in a ziploc bag and put them back in the freezer that way when I want to use raspberries for maybe I want to make a Peach Melba pie maybe I want to make a Peach Melba or a raspberry crisp or raspberry mousse or a raspberry smoothie or a berry smoothie with raspberries and blueberries and strawberries then I can just grab a handful of whatever I want out of the freezer they're already loose they're not frozen together and little blocks of raspberry goodness you can just grab a handful and use what you need and you can freely measure them so I'm going to do this I'm going to pop them in the freezer and that's my quick tip so the next time you are lucky enough to score some raspberries on the markdown produce rack remember if you can afford them by what you can afford take them home and process them immediately even though it's the fourth of July the savings on these raspberries is astounding I bought ten packages of these raspberries regular price that's $45 I bought them for ten so I don't really think you can beat that price so like the missus Volpe says eeeh or any even cat's cradle you've got a you've got to seize the moment if somebody brings you something it's like cash cradle her neighbor brought her peaches you may have to change your plans and do a little bit more work than you expected to that day but you know and like the missus Volpe she had her friend bring her garlic scapes so she decided to change her plans for that day and she made pickles out of them I wasn't planning on doing this work before dinner tonight but I'm doing it because it's saving me it's saving me $35 I don't think that's really do the math I think that's a really good reason to do so I hope you try it I hope you love it until next time I'll see you
