hello youtubers today we're going to be uh building a decorative gable for cheap and uh basically what we got to do is uh figure out the angle of the roof and basically i took a picture blew it up on the screen here and i'm going to just take measurements off it and that'll give me my angle and you know you might even want to use a protractor so i'm going to just measure the bottom of this it's 10 and 3 8. so i'm going to get two points here on the bottom here's my first point and my second point ten and three eighths so from the center line i need to figure out the height from that same measurement so on my picture here it's uh about three and three quarters from the center line i'm going to come up with three and three quarters and that would be the height of my gable and then to get the center point of that six and three eighths so i measure 6 and 3 8 here and 6 and 3 8 here and that center line that will be my angle for my gable so now that i have my template it's really close it's uh you know this this should do it gives me my angle for it so you know depending on how big i want to make this this gives me a really a good close rough estimate to uh put this thing together so now that we have our angles we're just going to go ahead and use our piece of cardboard here and go ahead and trace that out and of course i'm desiring about that thick then we'll go ahead and trace it out and cut that up so now that we figured all our angles out and our dimensions we went ahead and cut up our wood to to fit what's in there and uh you know there might be a little shaving towards the end there but uh for the most part this is the angle i'm gonna go ahead and pre-drill and screw this all together so we now we have it all screwed together and this one's gonna get installed shortly so you know this this is with rough cut tools and you know trying to save on a buck here and basically sometimes your you know your cuts aren't going to be exactly going to be a little bit off what i do is i put a little caulk in there that'll cover it up we're gonna have these gaps and cracks in here that we gotta get rid of and basically i'm just gonna use a little caulk put it in there and then go ahead and push it in there and it's going to help hold it together because with you know i've got some basically deck screws holding this thing together so now that the caulk is dried i'm gonna put a little paint here this is an exterior paint i had an extra half gallon down the basement and you know hey this might be a little bit rough but uh it does the job and it's cheap so uh you know i don't know too many people who wants to put two three hundred dollars or how much whatever it costs to put on the front of their house but hey this is a rough cut setup has a little bit of character and uh once this paints finished it uh it's gonna dry i think it's gonna look pretty good so there it is here's our finished product this is just using scrap wood that i had there was old shelving and uh cut it up to size screwed it together cocked it in place and then uh you know when when you go put this thing in you might be off of hair on your uh your angle but uh just screw it in there and then if you got a big gap put a little caulk in there and then put a little coat of paint over it it's gonna look good and there it is this thing costs less than ten dollars altogether and uh i hope everybody uh likes my video and um please stay tuned for more and uh please subscribe thank you
