Hi I'm Sophie and welcome to my world
today I have a little project for you that was requested by Idalis D and
shmu10 that's right s h m u 10 have to check that shmu 10
and it is an earbud / cord holder and it opens up just like this so that you can
unwrap your earbuds and you can keep them organized and I'm going to teach
you how to make this cute little personalized because it can have any
artwork that you like holder right now for this project you're going to need
duct tape cardboard packing tape some images ruler scissors a pen exacto knife and sticky back velcro the
first thing you're going to need to do is cut a little piece of cardboard and
you wanna make sure that this is heavy cardboard 2 by 3 inches now i just used
you know the flap from one of the boxes that came in the mail with all my
deliveries and it worked perfectly you don't want thin cardboard that's the
one thing now what I'm going to do here is going to take this little 3 by 2
piece with my ruler i'm going to measure in and mark the center point on both
sides so here and here and if I want to I can draw a line between the two
straight down the middle then I want to measure on either side half an inch
half-an-inch here and a half an inch here and I want to come down a half an
inch i want to do this on the other side as well then all i'm going to do is
connect the dots basically so that I make a V so I'm going from the outer
side down to that half inch mark on the line and from the other outer side and I
make a little V and now what I'm going to do is take my exacto knife and very
carefully cut out the little notch on both sides using tape i'm going to
cover these edges so first thing I'm going to do is use a three-quarter inch
piece of tape and I'm just going to lay it right along that line right there and
wrap it all the way around so you see it came all the way around do the same
thing on the other side lay it down wrap it around I'm going to come back
with a smaller piece of tape this is a half-inch piece of tape and I'm going to
place it on the end and wrap it around take another half inch piece of tape
place it on the side wrap it around this is just to seal up these edges just
going to cut that little extra there and I'm going to repeat this on all four
corners so that it ends up looking like that as you can see they're all covered what
I'm going to do next is take a small square tape place it in the center there
small piece of tape placed in the center there small piece of tape in the center
there and finally on the other side here i'm just going to take a longer piece of
tape this is six inches long just place it right in the center and
that's going to cover everything up and fold it over for my strap i'm going to
use two pieces of 12 inch tape take your strap piece place it sticky
side up and fold it right in half as cleanly as you can and seal it take your
second piece of tape 12 inches long place it sticky side up this is my
unsealed edge place the unsealed edge onto the tape right at the edge there
and fold this tape over and onto itself and then seal it we want this to be a nice solid strap
because it is going to be holding in all your good stuff once that's sealed you
want to take your base lay the base right on top of the strap fold the strap
over so that it just touches the edge right like that see if you can get that centered flip it
over and then use a square of tape just two inches by two inches seal that in
there we go this is ready for my cords and I could
just leave it like this if I wanted to if I didn't want to give it any
personality but right now i'm going to give it a little bit of personality i'm
going to create basically a sticker what I'm going to do is take some tape here
and usually the size that I limit myself to just so it's not so gigantic is a
one-and-a-half by one-and-a-half inch image you can use any image you like
emojis characters whatever you're into as you can see I've taken a five inch
piece of tape I've taken a second piece of 5 inch tape overlapping about
a half an inch to three quarters of an inch there I place that on parchment
paper i'm going to fold this over so I'm making what I call a double-sided
sticker base going to place that like that and then I'm going to take my
artwork now i just downloaded a bunch of little pictures from the internet and
what I did was I just cut out a little emoji here I cut it out nice and tight
and then I'm going to take some packing tape and place the packing tape over
top of my artwork and rub it really really really really really good to seal
it and do the same on the top here and again just like with my duct tape I'm overlapping that packing tape rub, rub, rub really good really strong really solid this is the most important part people love to cut out when i do my
workshops and we make stickers people love to cut out their pictures really
really close but here's the problem we need this packing tape to seal our image
in so that's why I asked you to rub it really really good you want to make sure
that you're leaving at least a quarter inch around your artwork so now I'm
going to come back and cut and i'm leaving a quarter to a half an inch
around the artwork and that's going to ensure that my artwork stays sealed in
going to give me that pretty color of whatever i've chosen for my duct tape
behind it now all I'm going to have to do is make sure that i put this on the
right side so fold this flap down fold this up and over and around and now you
know that your artwork needs to be on the outside here so take your artwork peel it away you can open it up as long
as you got your finger where you know it's supposed to be lay your artwork right on down flip it
over this is why you made it double sided so that you can now take the
sticker back line it up and seal it off it's as easy as that if you get any little extra just use
your scissors to trim away any little extra bit now the last thing to do is
add our velcro so we take your sticky back off of your velcro keep your velcro
together place the velcro sticky side then peel
the paper backer but don't unpeel your velcro there we go ok so this is going to go like that this
gets wrapped around leave it a little loose or if you want you can actually
even put your cords in there so you can get the perfect seal just wrap it
around seal it and there you have it the perfect container perfect holder to keep
your wires and cords and earbuds and anything that you have electronically
that's nice and skinny and long tidy and neat for more great ideas that are
