you don't have to live in Singapore to make a good sling this episode's sponsored by staff and joseph linda ray and amy and many others thanks for supporting the show you can show your support by donating and everyday drinkers comm / donate welcome to common man cocktails I'm your host Eric show more today we're going to create a lot of hair the Singapore sling lots of different ingredients but overall it's not gonna be that crazy it's kind of cool it's crazy but it's not too crazy small portions except for our gin Alice and a half a gin half ounce of herring herring herring cherry liqueur quarter ounce of Cointreau so Allah cuirass it's your quarter ounce of Benedictine that's what I've been waiting for and you know what on the sample over here look at this I had some wow I've seen that bomb before it's this bottle lime juice I maybe I was doing I swear we made them but I couldn't find it we have I don't think we did this specific rasoi lime juice and we have made it for the show pineapple juice 4 ounces oh the lives uses half pounds quarter ounce of these two we've got the four ounce of pineapple juice dash of bitters they're around here someplace oh and that's it oh I'm gonna use a cherry and oh my garnish broke a cherry I was all crazy there you go a cherry in a pineapple with a fin garnish built for days yeah this has taken us a long time to do these episodes it's unfortunately and unfortunately our camera battery was dead and then we thought we were charging but the battery is plugged in but the other side wasn't in the wall Hey all right we're gonna shake this right now don't either measuring cups just one will do so balance and a half Oh Jen this serves 1 in a Collins glass we made these the other night posted on facebook.com slash cocktail TV a little quiz with the viewers to see if they could fare well we were making cuz I lined up all the crazy spirits and had people try and guess what might make it oh this one's a half of us to see what recipe it was because there's not a lot of recipes that use these specific ingredients and this is some will argue there'll be somebody who will argue but this is supposed to be as close to the original Singapore sling as you can get I got this recipe specifically from drink boy calm which I believe this the guy who does the other drinking show their Robert ass I think this his website courthouse and he did some research and then he found out there was another recipe or there was a recipe that stated some of these ingredients may not have been in the original such as the cherry liqueur so be it any case people who claim this recipes theirs was I think it was around 1930 1915 or before depending on who you want to believe see one third of an ounce what do we say that's really small right mm-hmm so less than 1/4 know it's between 1/4 and 1/2 mm-hmm you know I don't like grenadine because it doesn't pour well and if you don't clean it off right away it turns into concrete and you can never at the top off all right lime juice 1/2 ounce now I'm gonna make this in a standard Collins glass but personally after having made these myself I think it would fit really good in a tiki glass like a ones that took like the Tiki Tiki go ahead not the tea has a big drink no the you know the other ones they have this those ceramic ones maybe I have purple on the blue and yeah you just want to show before now this is I like a spirit that uses a good that's a good handle on it's pineapple juice I mean a drink yeah I usually have no luster evil spirits don't like ghosts I have pineapple juice in them I was just trying to use a reference to a ghost because it was like a devil something whatever they call it when you say one thing but you use this different word for this okay let's shake it up a big drink whoo this one is not gonna get poured down the drain tonight glass egads I should be moving whoa yeah I should be more professional because I know this this specific recipes probably any of lots of views on YouTube because it's eat classic just look at that the best part of this pineapple juice is a nice foamy thick rich consistency you're gonna get throw that on top of a garnish beautiful I like the color you really accent it yes got like that a peach thing going on well I don't do you guys what do you guys think of these these silly little things these umbrellas there you see these amazing Chinese restaurants Chinese restaurant I do anyways that's about the only Asian restaurant I'd heat up oh no we go to Japanese sometimes the hibachi see hit look at the foam that it just gets right off the on the head as it's like just coming up through the drink it just looks so awesome I mean this drink is sexy love especially when he decorated out that's why I did the carnage sometimes I don't do a garnish but this one I just felt like it needs that garnish it's so like just epic and it's look feel and taste total Polynesian style thing going on you've got the the base that rich sweet pineapple juice through and through you get the cherry you get all this up around sugar you know then I use gin yeah you did forget glass straws you can't I swear we got more gin itís did we get a lot of gin last night maybe not no oh that time I did was weird it's got all these flavors kind of come into play at different times and there's not that many I mean overall a third of an ounce of some of some of these things or the yellow I mean the red grenadine a quarter of an ounce of Cointreau there's these small nuances to this drink that make it so rich and flavorful it's sweet but not too sweet I think it doesn't really I don't know I don't feel it gets any sweeter that pineapple juice itself which if you find pineapple juice to be super sweet and rich then you're probably gonna have a problem but I don't think it goes over the top beyond that of a pineapple juice if anything really brings in the sweetness I think it's the the sherry the herring liqueur you can use Kirschwasser or cherry water or whatever they call it if you want to this is it's got that rich the brown sugar cherry thing so I don't think personally that I could make this recipe if I didn't have the cherry liqueur because it's just so so legendary so that my friends is a Singapore sling thank you drink boy calm for coming up high and rank but there's a couple other ones if you go out you'll find different recipes kind of playing off this measurements might not be the same I will with his because I know he he does the research and stitch to some tradition question of the day what do you think of Polynesian drinks what do we go we have mai tais zombie scorpion bowls like do you guys are you afraid of him I know some people are afraid of me when you see like the fog cottage like I know it's the saws dangerous and really they're they're quite tame and flavorful to me sometimes taking creel always know people's aren't team know that's true it's a little on it's a little high control at times but it really comes down to what you perceive as how much you can handle and then you realize it was a lot less but it's too late so my kata categorizes as your Polynesian style drinks Singapore sling every day triggers calm what do you guys think of those ponies and drinks and what do you usually use for a glass that's it really works you see how to drink
