Please explain how to build roofs with lego

I'm gonna be showing you how to build a roof for houses today let me build a house for you real quick this is in response to the great Facebook questions that we had when you had asked the model builder so let me go ahead and build this house thing all right and there we go okay I'm going to show you three different style roofs this one is going to be a four sided roof made entirely with Lego plate when you start you want to make sure you overhang the outside at least by one stud it creates a bit of a lip a bit of an awning all right go all the way around the perimeter you can use various size plates it doesn't have to be one particular size but when you start the next row you're gonna go in by one stud and you want to make sure you always overlap the scene you don't want any seams to be lined up so we're gonna make sure we overlap each one of the seams we place down before you can kind of see as I go around each row now the next row is gonna go in again 1 by 1 stud I mean you gotta go about doing it the exact same way all the way up until we get to the top so we'll go a little bit fast motion now for that all right now as we're closing this off of the top I think it's chance to point it out before but underneath I actually lined at the top of the house with what's called Lego tile it's the one that doesn't have any studs on it that way it makes the roof easy to pop off so once you do that you can pop the roof off and then use your fingers underneath to brace the roof while you put the last couple rows on otherwise as you try to push in without any kind of backing or bracing underneath there they'll collapse and fall inside so that's a little trick to help keep it from collapsing as you put these last couple rows on there we go all together okay now I'm going to show you how to make a two-sided roof so that the walls are on the sides and so it has a only just two sides to the roof we're gonna be making with Lego brick instead of Lego plate so it's gonna be a little bit steeper of an angle once again we're gonna overhang the awning by one stud and instead of going all the way around we're actually gonna make walls for this side you can see the white pieces I'm placing now once again you're gonna go inside by one stud you want to make sure you overlap the seam on each of the brick so that it's nice and stable you can see I'm doing that there now and once again you can use any size brick just as long as you overlap the seam and you may not make sure you create that edge okay we're gonna keep making the wall here now this is actually going to go on both sides but right now I'm just demonstrating placing it on one side so what you'll do is you can repeat exactly what you're doing here on this side on the other side and create that same double-sided roof now speed it up here a little bit all right now for this last row that's going to complete that one side of the roof like I said you turn it over to this side you do the exact same thing and you'll create a two-sided roof all right now I'm going to show you something a little bit more complicated instead of doing what we said we'll repeat that we're actually going to create a little bit of an indention on this a little bit more complicated of a roof this is gonna have an extra window kind of creating an attic type scene for your house so that's gonna have a wall that covers over that little triangle area there let's go ahead and build that now there we are now right like I said you still create that awning make sure you overhang at least by one stoled and we're also gonna overlap you have to kind of blend this in so it's gonna cross that pattern there so you're gonna go in by one stuff that way oops there we go all right now once you do this piece over here you're going to have to also create the seam on the inside so we're gonna do that with these two by twos right there see that there we go that allows us to create a seam so that the same brick is not hitting the outside and it also allows it to move into the house so it creates those angles are a bit of a triangle space you've probably seen this on houses in your neighborhood and things like that too there we go all right let's go ahead and finish this part off there we go alright I'll speed this up a little bit you can kind of see the pattern I'm doing making sure I cross over there there we go alright we're gonna finish off that point of the roof of the house there now as we get up to the very top just like the last time we wanna make sure we need to pop the roof off so that we don't push in you want to kind of push on the brick underneath to make sure it's stable and then for this very last row the best thing to do just pop the roof off here you get that there we go all right well let's finish this last row here then want to make sure you brace it from the inside that way it doesn't collapse as you put it in there we go last piece very good take a look at that now you'll notice I didn't put a ridge on the very top that's up to you you can kind of choose how you want to do it I wanted to leave it kind of flat like that so there we go take a look completed house thanks everybody for checking out my video and hopefully I'll be able to post a few more good soon you know like us on Facebook and I look forward to seeing you guys again thanks
