it's Casey and I'm with Spike today and we have a great video for you on how to apply eye drops to your cat's eyes and joy all right buddy see ya giving eye drops to yourself can seem pretty tricky giving them to your cat may seem even harder but it's really very easy if you break it into simple manageable steps hi I'm doctor Dan Danner Cathy and I are going to show you a few of the basic steps when it comes to administering eye medication to your cat typically you have two medications one is an eye drop the other is anointment the ointments often lasts longer so they are administered less often your pet will determine which medication is best for your cat whether you're giving the eyedrops or the ointment the steps are very much the same the first always calm your pet into a sitting position you really don't need welders gloves or body armor to medicate your cat if you will take a damp paper towel or gauze and you want to wipe out any old medication or sleep mucus that may have accumulated in your pets I always have your medication open and ready and with your left hand if you're right-handed pull the cat's eyelid back your right a little drop into the eye if you're implying an ointment the steps are the same except rather than dropping liquid into the eye you're applying a thin strip or ribbon of ointment under the upper eyelid be sure you don't touch the eye and keep the tip a few millimeters away from your cat's eye pull back underneath and a light massage the more often you have a chance to treat your pet size the more trust they will have in you and the easier the experience will be for both you and your pet you you
