Please explain how to cut and install shoe moulding

well hi this is Sean Taylor vet of southern grow interiors and I'm coming to you today to show you how to cut shoe molding I started on a flooring project and I had an area in a hallway right there that had just a weird piece of carpet and now that I've taken up the carpet I need to install some new shoe molding so let's get started so I decided to run the flooring from the four-year all the way back through this little hallway into our kitchen and also into our breakfast in the area just made more sense so now I have an area along here and also on this side that did not have any original shoe molding you always want to try to match up what you have in your house or how the cuts are made so this was an existing cut right by the door line and so that's what I'm going to do is just to match it up and make sure that the new shoe molding matches the existing shoe molding so I have my miter box and a pencil so this piece was an existing piece and I'm just doing a test fit and I'm actually liking that this piece is just going to butt up and once I paint everything out and put a little bit of caulk in here to kind of smooth that corner out because it's just a weird jet out so I'm thinking of a flat butt piece will look better than to cut an angle want to just put the flat piece down and we'll just make a quick straight cut pretty easy enough this box actually has some little black pigs but I don't know where they are and I think that's just a nicer cut piece to but straight up against so let's do the other side now at the other end I actually have a hand wait I'm just holding that side in place until I can make my mark so I've made my mark and that's where I want to cut my 45-degree angle this step is pretty easy to cut and while uh we have a nice cut I'll go ahead and nail this into place come back and caulk any gaps and it'll be ready for paint
