Please explain how to: sugar coated flowers

hey guys it's jen i am making some sugar-coated flowers this morning or at least that's what i call them and so i was just gonna show you how i do it real quick i'm going to use just some regular gesso you can use any type of gloss medium i use the super gloss mod podge and then i'm also going to use some distressed stickles the dry glitter in the clear rock candy which i have hardly any left oh my goodness i better order some of that and these are i do this with all kinds of paper flowers i've i've shown them and and told you guys how i do it before but i figured i'm making some so i'll just show you but these are the spare parts mini roses they're called micro roses and i'm just gonna do a few of these blue ones here so i'm gonna just put some gesso i actually don't need that much because i'm just gonna do a tiny bit now you can skip the gesso step if you um i like to kind of give them it gives them a little bit more of a vintagey shabby look if you add a little bit of gesso on before you put the am i in frame look i'm not even in frame hang on sorry i'm just um dabbing a little bit of gesso on there we go and when i do the bigger flowers i put a lot more on but these are so tiny i don't want to like totally make them white so that's all and then i take a little bit of and it i don't totally wait for it to dry i mean i just dab the gloss on there but what i was saying was when i do the um bigger ones i put quite a bit of gesso on those and then once that's on there i just roll it in the glitter there we go i don't know if the light source was messing me up but it was not wanting to focus so there is our little sugar coated flower maybe focus here my goodness having technical difficulties today so and sometimes i just kind of like drizzle it on these are super easy because they're so little but i really like doing this with the paper flowers that you get from like the dollar tree section at michaels and you don't you don't have to like completely coat everything with the super gloss you can just and with these this is what i was afraid with i've never done these tiny little ones but um you have to be careful how much you put on there because it can really get caked up so i'm just using a needle to bring back a little bit of the definition and maybe while i'm doing this i'll get one of the bigger paper roses and kind of show you that definitely need some more glitter there so there are those hang on one second let me just grab ah where are they where are they oh so here are these are the flowers i'm talking about i actually haven't made some of these in a while i'll just do these wipes oh goodness i haven't had these out in a while these are so pretty so let me get back in frame here and so these i'm just i just really kind of pounce all over and yes i stick my gesso brush in my gloss medium just like that and then i'm gonna just use this filter and okay and they're like super super easy okay let me just do a couple more of these and yeah you can like i said put as much or as little gesso as you want a lot of times i'll do the little green leaves underneath and then like with these sometimes i just drizzle the gloss medium on the tips oh and you know you can do it however you want you can put it some a little bit more down in the leaves and then you get a little bit different look i hope you guys can see that so when that dries um it'll look a little bit different after it dries because the gloss medium will be clear and shiny and then you'll have the sparkle on top of it so i'll add some photos at the end whoops i didn't mean to do that oh you guys i'm such a messy crafter um i don't worry too much about contaminating my super gloss medium because i really don't use it for a whole lot of other things am i not in camera again so this is kind of a fun messy project this is a great project for kids because you can't you can't screw it up love my coffee filters and i really like the way that came out so um kind of a haphazard video here but i will throw in some pictures at the end um as well as i'm using these blue cards these blue cards holy i'm using these blue flowers i'm making them to go on a card so i'll show you the card here in a minute as well okay so i did a whole bunch of the flowers um they are drying right now and when they are dry i will take some pictures of them so you can see them it's really hard on the video i'll probably be able to do it better in the still shots to see how much they are sparkling because when i'm looking through the camera lens i don't see them sparkling but when i am looking um outside of the camera lens they are sparking like crazy so i will try and capture that in some photos the other thing is when you make these your hands like i just did all of these really quick i um let's see if i can do a close-up i guess with them all and then there you can kind of see the glitter when i do the close-up um and again they'll look a little bit different when they're dry gessoed them all glossed them on and and glittered them and by the time i got done my hands were completely caked but in the gesso and everything but it comes right in everything washes right off the other thing that i'll do with these once they dry is i put them in a like metal colander strainer and i take them outside and i shake them really good which gets any looser excess glitter off of them so i will be back shortly with finished product okay guys so i'm back i took these outside and shook them off and here is the end result and now um hopefully you can see as i'm moving the paper around here a little bit the shimmer and sparkle from the distressed glitter i just love the way these come out and then um i especially love these little peach ones you can see a lot of kind of the the film has cleared up a little bit from the gloss and some of it mixed with mixes with the gesso to give it like a little bit of a creamy opaque appearance which i don't mind but the the um when you first apply it it it definitely dries much clearer than when you first put it on so there are the flowers and then the card that i made is this one and so i put those little blue flowers here in here i just hot glued those on the card and this stamp i colored with distress markers i put wink of stella on the bottom of the cupcake and on the top i used a combination of um like a glitter glue it's the i was it's actually the viva decor glitter glue and then i also used quite a bit of the twinkle diamond dust the really thick glitter and i stamped out it's your day on some banners and just layered some papers so i hope you guys found the tutorial helpful if anyone has any questions let me know have a great day you look fine a little strange losing weight
