hello everyone we are looking at a hawthorn which i acquired recently and as usual most of the trees that i acquire are neglected by the previous owners and this is the exception as you can see a lot of dead branches the pot is very dirty lots of weeds and grass and that's the state that parts in so i'll tidy up the pot and then start removing some of the branches i have cleaned the pot and what a difference it makes and this is some of the grass that came out of the pot this is how not to bonsai the grassroots were so established it looks like the previous year's growth had just been cut from the top and this year's growth was what was visible and the roots were so deep i had to virtually dig them out and uh as a result the tree has suffered there are a lot of dead branches and uh growth is very poor so i will now tackle the dead branches and um may end up wiring a few of the branches but this definitely is not how to bonsai branches and not doing anything for the tree so the last thing is to take them off so my i've cleaned up the tree of law of dead wood uh it is now very noticeable that there is not much to go from the right hand side of the tree as you look at it all the votes from the left-hand side now this basically happens when the tree is left in one position for a long time and the side that's facing the sun tends to grow in the side that's not facing the sun suffers and that is how not to one side the way to do it is to keep the tree turning so that there is even growth all around the tree what i will now do is wire it up and reposition some of the branches to fill the gap because these branches are going to hold here and this one right here so bring some growth into the area where there is none at the moment i'm going to tidy up a little bit more by shortening the branches let's compete the past that i intended to accomplish today and uh wind up a few branches also pulled people pull the tree in by trimming the branches which are too long and reposition quite a few of the branches and give it a quick turn i hope that the tree will now recover from the neglect that had suffered and i will start feeding it the thought is much cleaner and tidier there's an internal amount of grass and weeds and the tree was fighting with the weeds so hopefully it will have everything to itself thank you for watching and watch more please subscribe you
