that with a plastic and a spring bit of rubber open up whole world logan's comma thank you for checking out this video all about the cat pose so in this lesson I'm gonna tell you about the capo what it's used for and essentially how to use it right now cow pose are great if you don't have a capo also as a capo depending on where you are in the world it's pronounced very differently I'm English and we say capper yes as a capo and in America is like hey if you got a keyhole so yeah sorry about my terrible accent say I've had an offended anybody and anyway here it is the the thing in question the capo right that's my capo it looks a lot more like a torture device doesn't it looks like you see in a horror film it is a cat that's my cat bite you get other different cafes and you know a little bit of string that kind of wraps around says you the whole idea is there about 5 10 bucks off Amazon or you could get them from your local guitar store if you can get a guitar store please do to support local guitar stores as opposed to violent internet so there's a capo right what is the idea what is it what does it do well a capo beta P is a clamp okay clamps down across all of the strings so by doing so what it does is it just press it down and all all the strings across one fret and then it basically plays all those strings as if you were to bar that specific fret in this case the second fret or it could be maybe the fifth fret or give me the sixth fret now if you have to do that and borrow your finger that means you've only got three fingers left you've also got to bar it which is you know I'll my dear no fine but some people can't do that quite hard it'll hurt within time especially if you're playing a song that's like three or four minutes long so you know borrowing it three fingers left so essentially what the capo does is it by putting a capo across something on the neck it raises the pitch and the tone of the guitar but it still gives you the freedom to play as if you are in the open note position so if you were to play like a name on you wanted that to be a higher pitch that's a second fret for example we did get your capo do it over zoom in but not zooming anymore plugs on get your capo you have to bend it so it opens it's got a sprinkling on it you put it across your friend like that let go and then there you go it's now pressing down on all the strings across my second fret some cafes you might have to adjust plates make sure that the camera is doing its job that your meanest all the strings are now ringing out otherwise you get like a commonly it's more of the high string some capo is a bit cheap and crap so make sure you get decent capo invest in a good cap on the last two years so the chords are doing was the a minor now this is there a higher slightly higher pitch allows me to play okay open I'm just playing a normal open a my round here knee minor chord right I thought it's doing it's exactly what it's doing so when you press down essentially now the other thing to remember about capo is when you sit in capo and mainly on tablature sites or even other guitarists a teaching of video remember that the capo now acts as the nut all right so that no the capo is on my second fret here so essentially that means now my third fret now becomes the first fret okay the fourth fret is now my second fret and then my fifth fret is now my third fret okay and then that's then my fourth so there's my now open chord box okay so instead of being here in the first four out of the third this is now my open chord box alright so now playing an E minor so normally would play an a minor from the first fret it's beautiful following on the fifth fret get some really gorgeous tones and chords cuz you've got it up slightly higher frets as a little like say for example the fifth fret where I have it the strings are not tighter and and when you they're not as loose as if it was an open strings so because they're tighter you can do some really beautiful things like I was doing there simply was doing as I was playing the a minor just literally lifts it up and down up and down hammer on lofts like that it's just the middle that's the ring finger there very effective right if I have to do that as the open know it still that nice but not knowing it was nice and here so when you get capo keep dropping on falls away when you get that cat poo you check on the fare for the sick wherever you want to put it it sounds wonderful that's that's also great about Kappa when I first got a capo when I first got them is it blew my mind I was playing all these open note chords up here and I was like at the time I was writing a lot of music doesn't abandon stuff and I was quite young I still know stuff about a cat fight and I chucked up with a fearful stick on the second or third fret and I was able to do essentially similar kind of chord chord patterns and chords I did previously in songs that I've written maybe like a fast song and then if I slowed it down I'll give you an example let's do like a see it's nice it's okay let's say a minor c g and a d right let's say that's then if also chocolate on the fifth fret exact same chords right hey there be this is on no genius one thing to remember though when yeah be capo is that the the pitch and the tonal looks are is a lot higher now meaning that your singing would have to be in line with that so bear that in mind you don't have that particularly higher voice you know so be like fifth fret right anyone wants to sing I'm not the world's greatest singer so I can't give too many tips on singing but gives you an idea has been a lot hi Paige okay I'm not very simple you get the point if you have somebody a friend mainly female who has a beautiful voice that can coincide with that and you're on for a winner you can't be a capo slightly higher if you wanted to so put on the seventh fret there and certain straight out and chords like a D for example he's not as fertilizer very very nothing you can put it on the night I rarely ever put my cat home there's hi I'm just showing you what it's like there you go so some really wonderful sounds there that you can make with a capo capo please go invest in one if you don't have one a great fun but yeah just that bit of plastic and a spring a bit of rubber open up a whole world of opportunity so anyway thank you
